Staff fantastic, very helpful, friendly, and again very very helpful (before my arrival, during my stay and even after!). The place is a little bit outside the town and for me this is a good thing because it is very quiet and peaceful. From the pick-up point You can walk for 20 minutes on the Landak river path to the Villa. The walk is nice, You get to see another side to the area.

Magpie Homestay was a wonderful accommodation for visiting Bukit Lawang. The host was exceptionally kind and caring. She prioritized our comfort and enjoyment. The food offered at the Homestay was very good. They also offer orangutang trekking, rafting, and other fun activities. Overall we highly recommend Magpie Homestay if you are looking for a local accommodation that is comfortable and a great value.

The staff is very friendly, the location is great, really made our stay enjoyable. The manager was also very communicative during the booking process. The chef is very talented in cooking traditional food, Can highly recommend Rinte Green Village.
I loved my stay here. The location is amazing - literally in the jungle. The staff were friendly and helpful, and took me on a night time jungle trek. I've never stayed anywhere like this before, and I would recommend Rinte Green Village to anyone looking to immerse themselves in the jungle near Bukit Lawang. Really unique accommodation and the food was delicious.
I ended up staying at the other building the owner has that’s further up the street due to availability. The room was perfect, with an ensuite and fan and a really lovely balcony with a view overlooking the village. It was called ‘Dina.s’. I highly recommend staying there- the owner and his wife were very welcoming and helpful.
I think this location is actually nicer than the main building people stay at beside the river.
We had a great stay at Asim Paris. A very tranquil and beautiful place just outside the busy town of Bukit Lawang. The staff was super friendly, the guides Ricky (jungle trek) and Samuel (village tour) were amazing and adapted their tours to our needs and Youssef the driver was very kind and fast! Not to forget simple but very tasty restaurant and the guitar/singing night!
Very comfortable place literally 10 meters from the river in a quiet area of the village. It was recently opened so everything is fresh, new and clean. I would definiately stay here again.
Thomas Retreat was the perfect place to start and end trekking tours into Gunung Leuser National Park. Thomas has 30 tremendous experience in trekking tourd and the guides on my 3 day trip were just azing. Everything from sleeping, food etc was 100% taken care of. Thomas Retrest is located in a calm area of thr village amd is easily accessible. Overall, loved my stay which exceeded my expectations!
Waterstone Guesthouse in the village of Bukit Lawang, Sumatra, exceeded all expectations. Udin, the owner, made me feel incredibly welcome. The food served here is simply divine, also the delicious banana pancakes with fresh tropical fruit for in the morning. Waterstone Guesthouse is the perfect base when planning to do the jungle trek, offering a cozy retreat after adventurous days. I'm already looking forward to returning soon.
The staff at Thomas retreat were really friendly and lovely, we felt really welcome and at home staying here. The beds were comfy and the location was excellent, right on the river in close proximity to the village. We went on a jungle trek with them and had an amazing day and thought it was really good value.
