Perfect for families, groups or couples who enjoy luxury and independence while travelling. Enjoy the space and privacy of these fully-furnished, self-standing mansions — travellers can cook, lounge and explore at their leisure. Note that in Bali, a resort will also be called a villa.
We enjoyed Villa Maya so much that we stayed for a second time on our trip. A beautiful place to relax, a green oasis at Laguna Petenchel, close to Flores, but far away from all the noise in Flores. Perfect place to recover from an El Mirador Trek and all other tours throughout Peten. The restaurant right at the Laguna serves delicious food, the rooms are clean and spacious and we enjoyed the pool area.
Central location, strong AC, access to kitchen and powerful fridge. Lake view from the kitchen. Drinking water provided. Bedside tables in the room which is a luxury in budget accommodation at these latitudes.
Wonderful hotel. The villas on the water are suberb, the hot tub is a huge plus. Service is good, we enjoyed room service. Breakfast was good, but not impressive. The dinner was okay- not perfect.
The exceptional staff at Villa Maya made my stay memorable. The room's thoughtful arrangement and the incredibly comfortable beds exceeded my expectations. A truly top-notch experience that I highly recommend to fellow travelers.
Villa Maya is a stunning spot if you are looking for a quiet getaway surrounded by nature. Daytime staff were friendly and helpful. The quality of food in the restaurant was pretty solid and they had some really nice regional dishes that are worth trying too. Pool was large and fun for the kids, especially with the overhead water feature. The rooms are comfortable with great views and are set back from the main hotel in a super location.
The facilities are amazing. Beautiful, well maintained.
I requested a king size bed. Instead I got a room with 2 full and a twin bed? Too much for one person.
Unfortunately my airline overbooked my flight into Flores and I only spent literally one night at Villa Maya. I was charged for two nights and could barely enjoy the hotel. Swimming pool and restaurant closed at 9:00 pm (kind of early) and were to be opened at 7:00 am. Food was ok. Service was fair but not as good as I’ve experienced in Guatemala City and Antigua.
This was our second time staying at Zapote Tree. What a beautiful space! The view from the terrace is incredible and the staff is wonderful. It has the perfect mix of quietness and beauty, while still feeling the Guatemalan culture of the surrounding village.
