We were a couple staying for two nights and it was perfect.
Very clean and well kept with everything you need. There is a pub very close and a couple down near the water front, all were nice. Parking not far either as no parking outside the property.
A choice of four cafes, we are in Valerie’s and the coastal Coffee which were very near by.
Would definitely book again ❤️

This lodge was beautiful and felt very homely the minute we stepped inside.
It had all the amenities needed if you wanted to stay in and have a cosy night, which suited me and my partner.

Beautiful location, just by the beach. Villa was clean. Kitchen well equipped. There were some drinks and food in the fridge on arrival which was great.
The Retreat is an idyllic place to stay. Peaceful, clean and in a great location for West Mersea's attractions. The hosts were helpful and thoughtful. The welcome tray was much appreciated.
Really enjoyed our stay at the retreat. Although close to other houses it has been beautifully hidden away and gives you a place to relax and a good base for exploring west mersea.
Mersea Villa itself was a beautiful place to stay, very comfortable, clean, and well equipped. The location was perfect, the beach in view from the decking and less than a minute's walk away. The area was incredibly quiet too,, presumably it may be a bit busier during school holidays, but it seems this would always be a peaceful place. We went for peace and the sea, so this was absolutely perfect.
Don’t often find this, but pictures were spot on; the place really is luxury. Brilliant location, everything there you could want and possibly the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in. We really had a lovely time. The place is huge and perfect for families with children small and big due to the games room in the garden (which was exceptionally well maintained).
The room is freshly decorated and plenty of natural light, the bed is very comfortable end the bedsheets very soft. The location is great, close to the sea and not far from the village. In the garden there is a little table and two chairs to enjoy the sunshine. Soaps and shampoos smell delicious.
Great facilities, very clean and tidy, very helpful host and ideally located, A little over a 10 minute walk gets you to the Company Shed and West Mersea Oyster Bar, a 5 minute walk gets you to some lovely beach walks and views and the centre of the village is only 5 minute walk away too, can definitely recommend The Retreat
