The location is excellent for both a layover (as our case), but also for a normal leisure travel - close to the highway, yet in a very quiet, relaxing, full of nature and green area - with a lot of gorgeous views. Key takeover with code went very easy.
The furniture is modern and the interior was spotless, the kitchen and bathroom had all needed supplies and the beds very comfortable. The terrace offers a great place to relax and a beautiful view. We hardly needed to go upstairs, but it was also neat and comfy looking :)
The pet-friendliness was for us a godsend, as we travelled with our six cats - Tatjana even left us water bowls and comfy blankets for our furry friends; we very much appreciated our entire 'crew' being welcome.

Villa Katharina is a very special hotel, outside the center, in a quite hilly area, which we liked. Good exercise. Glad we stayed two nights to get used. Room is well equipped and luxury. Breakfast is special, as each guest can specify how to get the hot food. Bamberg is also special with two canals surrounding the old town.
The villa is exceptional in all respects, excellent location, fully outfitted and the most beautiful decor, so many wonderful touches! Alexandra was a very friendly and gracious host. Highly recommended!
Great location near the river, quiet like in a village (even sheeps are nearby...) , but not far to the Bamber center. One could even walk there, but I went closer to the old city by car.
Very nice owners, good restautant, family atmosphere. And easy to reach from high-ways.
Room was super nice. I don't know whether they upgraded me, but I had two double beds in my room, rather than the single room I booked. So, it was really spacious and luxurious compared to some places I had stayed at. Underfloor heating which heated the room really well, great bathroom, good sized closet, good location.
Alexandra’s cottage was in a superb location, a nice leisurely stroll to the centre of Bamberg. The villa itself was darling. A lovely authentic home that was beautifully presented. Immaculately clean and nicely furnished. All the facilities were in excellent condition.

Very happy with our stay at Metterschmidt in Bamberg, we liked it so much we extended our stay for a few days. Staff were pleasant, our room was a good size and very quiet and vey clean. Breakfast was excellent. Very well run business with people that care. Parking was available nearby. Surrounding villages worth visiting if you have time
The location is superb, 1-2 mins from the Rathaus and absolute centre of beautiful old town. Excellent recommendations from reception for getting a smoked beer and a meal resulted in our one evening there being truly memorable. The hotel is not luxury but being very neat, having lovely touches, being comfortable and immaculately clean in the best location counts for far more than that.
Nice hotel, friendly staff with good breakfast. It's right in the heart of the village literally opposite Schlenkerla that does the Rauchbier. The hotel bar/restaurant also does Rauchbier where everybody is outside on the street enjoying a beer. There are plenty of eating and drinking options nearby. NB - If you are coming to Bamberg by train, it is a 20-25 minute walk to the old town and hotel from the station.
