The location is amazing—on the beach (which is gently sloping until a long way out), in the National Park, near the lagoons (take the birdwatching trip to see several species, including the flamingoes) and great peace and quiet. The accommodation itself is basic.

This place is amazing.
For less price than what you would pay for a room in any of the places in Mayapo beach you get a full 2 stores house for you with 360 degrees view.
Literally amazing. But not for everyone I guess. Other than what you get the other beach hostels, here you will be on your own so a car would be necessary to move around and meet people.
For some people being so much on your own might be intimidating. There are no windows upstairs.
You can park the car in your own garden.

Great little hotel, nice space for breakfast and you can use the pool at the Bona Vida hostel next door . Aircon was a luxury to have and we could store our bags for a few days

There's a tour agency attached; we didn't use them but they've lots on offer and can store your luggage whilst you take trips.

Rooms are small if they're full; we had a 4 bed with bathroom and luckily were just 2, otherwise would be a squeeze.

This is the quietest hostel. They don't have common areas. We stayed in double room for 2 nights and it was comfortable. And we stayed one more night when we returned from La Guajra tour. It's very good location near the beach and market. The staff were very nice. There is always some one at the disk. It has no air-conditioning but the fan was more than enough. It's not luxury but it's good.
