The stop was just off the M74 so easy to find and start your journey the next day. Having breakfast items in the cupboards and fridge (cereals, tea, milk, eggs) was completely unexpected. The host made the property accommodating for humans and dogs alike. There were dog treats, food and water bowls and plenty of dog throws for the furniture. There was a lovely selection of toys for our daughter as well as little chocolates, shortbread and plastic plates, bowls and cups makes life so much easier. We didn't use the outside facilities however you get a good view from the bedroom window, the garden is immaculate with plenty of room for your dog to play and do business. Honestly can't remember the last time I stayed in a such a well equipped property. You can tell the owners took pride in choosing the decor, furniture and soft furnishings. Will definitely be stopping again.

We enjoyed the quiet of the surroundings (the main house was not occupied) and the indications given by the host. The location is convenient and the views are enjoyable. The beds and the equipments were good.

The host was waiting when we arrived. He showed us into the property and gave us a tour of everything including the heating controls. He fully explained all the rules, along with showing us where contact details were. He made it clear to let him know if there were any issue and he would sort them immediately. Being from the same area originally we had a number of chats about places we both knew. I cannot recommend Meadowbank highly enough, in fact hopefully, we can go back again sometime for another stay.

Location is great with a river view. Very spacious two bedroom apartment with a large living room and kitchen.
Parking outside the apartment is also easy.

I liked the fact that the owners obviously want their guests to enjoy their stay by providing accommodation to exacting standard, a friendly welcome, many extras in the kitchen and bathroom and are willing to provide what they can (garden access for dogs, bike storage for example) to make a stay at Mains Retreat memorable and repeatable
Lovely apartment with very friendly host in a good location in Lockerbie. Less than 5 minutes walk to tesco and very good playground round the corner!

We arrived quite late due to an accident on the way up from Essex..the staff member who greeted us said that he would be able to get us some food if we wanted even though the kitchen was already closed..the room was very clean..and very comfortable..location was very good as it was away from the motorway. The hotel was beautiful.

Nice, comfortable room. Patio doors opened out, and outside table and chairs provided, which was a nice feature and very welcome given the heat! Also, the host was very helpful; in particular arranging transport to a sister hotel for an evening meal, as the hotel’s own kitchen wasn’t open. Understandable situation given the need for balancing staffing and costs.
Perfect stopover point on a long journey from Inverness to The South. Old hotel renovated by new owners. Rooms a little dated but perfectly kitted out with crisp bed linen and fluffy white towels. Kitchen was closed when we arrived but Chippy was about 200 ft away from front door. Staff were exceedingly helpful. Great Bed Only rate from bookings.com so were able to leave and continue our journey as soon as we had finished sleeping.
The staff were excellent pleasant and very helpful.
Breakfast was excellent. The choice of evening meal was limited due to kitchen staff shortage which was a little disappointing.
The hotel is under going refurbishment and we are sure it be excellent when complete.
