The Hermitage Hotel Mt Cook, hotel in Mount Cook Village

Set in Mount Cook National Park, The Hermitage Hotel features a range of rooms and suites all offering majestic mountain views, and most with views of Mount Cook.

Family room was incredibly spacious and had a beautiful view of Mt Cook with private balcony! Location absolutely perfect for walking in the national park, priced competitively (but very limited accommodation options in the National Park). Comfortable, clean and quiet. The Alpine Buffet was amazing (a really amazing spread and value for money - would definitely recommend!).

The location was great, and the staff were incredibly helpful. I dropped several cards from my wallet in the parking lot, and the staff were very helpful. Everything I dropped was returned and all was fine. The room was very nice!

Very quaint little set up here so you need to be well prepared as there is only one up market hotel with cafe style restaurant during the day and a fantastic restaurant for dining costing approximately $80 per person for the buffet which was very nice. Outside of that there isn't anywhere to get any other food supplies apart from you bring. It is a stunning location especially when you venture out into the many hiking trails provided and come across the glacier lakes and rivers

We had a great mid-winter trip to the village. It never fails to amaze. Most food types are covered but be careful with your expectations as to what restaurants cafes or bars are open for eating and drinking in the winter period.

We did a 19 day road trip around the lower North Island, and Mount Cook Village was my favourite place to stay. Id love to go back again some time. Sadly for us due to being delayed due to issues with the interislander we only got to stay here for one night. We took an amazing scenic flight and landed on the Tasman glacier. We had the perfect day for it. The smorgasbord restaurant at the Hermitage was fantastic, one of the better smorgasbord's Ive had. I would love to come back here some day and do some of the shorter walks around the area and just to experience this majestic place once more.

Being able to see the glacier from the top part of the village. Our fantastic day trip to Lake Tasman to get close to icebergs and and the glacier at one end of the lake. (not the glacier seen from the village).

When we went to Mount Cook Village in mid-September the weather was pretty bad. We stayed for two nights, and we could only do one hike (Hooker Valley track). The rest of that day and the second day was raining/snowing all day. However, despite this, it was still a beautiful view of the mountain from the shared living area. The communal area is well-heated and has plenty of seating for guests. The staff were also very friendly and helpful.

The facilities in this location apart from one major hotel are fairly limited, so thus place is fantastic as it caters for you for doing your own cooking, laundry, sitting in the loungeroom area chatting with new people and well located to the hiking. Your length of stay in this area is fairly short, but this accommodation would be suitable if your extending your stay

Location with the views of the mountains and a quiet, away from the main road. Parking next to room, big modern room with excellent facilities and nice porch at back. Restaurant only a short walk away in the next door hotel, with spectacular dining room window looking up at the mountains. Wifi was good.

No Mount Cook view, but there was a decent view across the valley. I booked the motel room (not my idea of a lodge) as it was located at Mount Cook village. However Mount Cook village was a big disapointment. Hooker Valley walk was excellent.
