Beautiful town with great views of Mt Fuji, a few family friendly activities and plenty of restaurants. The town does not have taxis and you are stuck with the shuttle options your hotel provides. This is not a huge issue because the town is pretty walkable. We took an express bus from Mishima, which is connected to both Kyoto and Tokyo through the bullet train network.
Would highly recommend the rope car but do go early in the morning. The lines get very long through the day and there is no timed entry for the tickets so you have to get in line.

The location is great. The costumes in the room great.
The location is great. The costumes in the room great. The room size was great. However, torn carpet in the lift and threadbare halls and big gaps in the windows etc all need dealing with. Also do more breakfast, people coming there to walk and see the scenery, they need food.

I love how the busses are so convenient for us to visit around the Kawaguchiko and the other lakes. There are so many things to do around the Fuji Five Lakes that 2 days and one night is not enough for me. I wish I can come again and stay longer. But I love how serene my experience, enjoying the Fujisan view in Yamanakako. All places that I went has less tourists but sooooo beautiful.

This hotel is gorgeous! And has stunning views right of Mt. Fuji - unfortunately we only stayed one night and wasn’t very visible in the morning however it cleared up during the day as we explored the town and I can only imagine the view you’d actually have if it was clear during your stay. It’s only a short walk from the station and a few near by restaurants. The rooms are quite big - biggest ones we’ve stayed in while travelling Japan. Staff are lovely and check in and out is very easy.
Honestly, I love everything. I am so so happy I booked and paid more for the Mt.fuji View. This alone was the highlight of my trip, waking up and going to bed, having this incredible view was insane.
The room was spacious and clean.
Hotel right next to kawaguchi station, the famous Lawson shop/photo op, near Lake kawaguchi and near the rope line.
The staff were amazing and friendly and loved using the shuttle bus.
I would definitely stay here again.
- Great Ambience - Hotel Lobby, Lounge, and both Western Room and Japanese Ryokan-Style Room with private bath
- Sprawling Rooms
- Spectacular View
- Superb service - met in parking lot by 2 attendants who immediately took bags
The entire experience from start to finish felt generous, impactful, and expansive. Even though we only saw Fuji peaking out for a short while in the morning, we found the entire stay freeing and relaxing.
Absolutely lovely ryokan right next to the lake that has its own gender-separated indoor onsen. Has a very traditional Japanese feel and the owners are very friendly and accommodating. Amazing value for money. There's also a public park right next door that has views across the lake and also of Mt. Fuji. Bus stop nearby as well.
