Great base to explore more of this beautiful part of the country. Most people just pass through, but it's a nice town, with plenty of places to shop, eat and drink. You can get a wine tasting tour to Blenheim; do Queen Charlotte Drive; walk part of the track or take a boat trip to one of the many bays.

We ventured into Picton to have a look around and the place was pumping. Free entertainment on the foreshore and the local pub was a great place for a quick dinner while being entertained by a great singer /musician in the garden. Fun place Picton, upbeat vibe

Picton is a small town but is a great entry point for anyone travelling to the South Island via ferry. It has interesting little shops in the town centre. It is a great place to explore the east coast from here.
