Mardius Konak is simply excellent. We were greeted by the owner who told us about the story of the Konak which was once their family mansion. Every detail in every corner of the facility reflects elegance, perfectionism and good taste. Breakfast and dinner is amazing, all with local products and recipies. Staying in Mardius Konak is truly a unique experience.

Wonderful hotel, everything is updated, clean, stylish! The room is beautifully furnished, comfortable, interestingly arranged, with air conditioning that works well. It's nice to sit on the patio, the terrace has a spectacular panorama, and you can see the castle. The location of the hotel is very convenient given the maze of streets in Mardin.
Despite the language barrier, we managed to communicate with the hotel staff in plain English. They tried very hard to help us. We are particularly grateful to Baran, who was very helpful and organised our transfer to the airport. Only in the morning, the other young man who was supposed to let us out of the locked courtyard door and escort us to the taxi was late a bit :)

The old town is quite charming. The highlight for us were the ancient churches so beautifully maintained/restored and that Arabs, Kurds and the very small Christian minority live together harmoniously. Everyone seemed so gracious and kind.

A beautiful town, completely different from the Turkiye known by those who visit the coast. Kurdish, not Turkish, with Christian buildings going back to the fourth century and a culture that encompasses many religions and languages. A good base for a day trip (with guide) to Midyat and other local sites. Plenty of restaurants, serving wide variety of foods. Wine shops, selling local wines, but no bars in the old town.
Really wish we had read more before going. Pictures show the beautiful pale-coloured buildings climbing up the hillside but not the fact that the 'roads' are more often steps. Wonderful small narrow streets, a copper bazaar where people were at work, incredible churches, mosques and madrasas - but you need to have good hips and knees!
An excellent Hamam, open for men mornings and evenings, for women in the afternoons.
For anyone interested in early Christianity, in cultural melting pots, or in somewhere unlike most tourist towns, Mardin and Midyat, and the necropolis at Dara, the area is exceptional. Allow about four days and bring sensible shoes.
Good and cheap bus service from the airport, no need to use taxis.

This was the second time to visit Mardin, this time during a small road trip. Mardin is a place were you don not see Western people. Please do not mention it, otherwise it will ruined as other old citys. Atmosfere specicial on the market is like 200years old. Views are amazing, and most important the people.

Mardin old town is a remarkable destination - fabulous architecture, great shopping, many wonderful restaurants, and world renown historic sites nearby. We stayed at Fairouz Konak Otel, which we would highly recommend - it is a historic building in the heart of Mardin old town, within easy walking distance of many restaurants and stores, We were welcomed by our thoughtful host with delicious offerings of food and drink; he was able to answer all our questions about his city. The hotel was memorable for its charming rooms, fantastic panoramic views from many terraces, delicious breakfasts, and excellent host and staff, We highly recommend a visit to Mardin and a stay at Fairouz Konak Otel!

Mardin is one good medium city not very bussy for turists.
Mardin is one good medium city not very bussy for turists. There is one old and interesting city with a lot of loveley mosque, houses and narrow street, very different for others places from Europe. I used this location for travell to Dara and Husankyf on Tigris river.
This hotel was cosy and unique. It definately gave the Mardin vibes you needed! The view from the rooftop terrace was the best part for me. The rooms are decent and spacious. Breakfast was delicious and Mardin has the best Cay! Host was kind enough let us select our rooms. I was pleasantly surprised by the door key and iron bar securing the door from the inside. Takes one back to the past! Location is great and near old Mardin shops and restaurants.
Historical old mansion, that keeps the essence of Mardin. Views in the terrace are beautiful. The hotel provides a quality breakfast.
The staff is generally helpful, although no English is spoken, communication is done with translator. I ask to change my room the second night and they accommodate my request.
Close to hotel there is an square with free parking available.
The breakfast was delicious (one of the best breakfast I had in Turkey!), the place is beautiful especially the view is breathtaking. Location very convenient. Staff, but especially the lady that serves breakfast in the morning, is very nice!
Good location - and though we knew parking would be a problem, the hotel "reserved" a roadside space in front where we could leave our car. This is a modern, well built hotel that sits well in the historic town of Mardin
Very nice hotel in beautiful Mardin. Owner of this place and people working there were very nice and helpful. I definitely recommend this place. Full of history.
