Avoid booking trips from third party sites which tend to overcharge. Your hotel can help you find local tours. Uber is very easy to use and can get you to further off sites. Get an esim from Airalo or Gigsky. There is a trolley train that starts at the intersection of C. Conde & C. Isabel La Católica with a 45min guided tour of Zona Colonia. Tickets were half the price if purchased on site rather than on the web.

Centro Colonial is beautiful.
Centro Colonial is beautiful. Unfortunately not much to do or see when there's plenty of interesting things to show and perhaps one of the most important places in the history of the continent. Culinary culture is also a missed opportunity, a simple example... I didn't find any place serving mamajuana. Also menus are limited to mofongo, sancocho, mangu, tostones, pork and pollo guisado.... where's the seafood? It's an island. Surely there's a richer gastronomy.

The historic part of Santo Domingo is quite small and fairly touristy. The museums and historic sites are interesting and reasonably price. There are touts trying go sell you tours which aren't always good. There is a lively night scene with good restaurants and bars.

Being Puertorrican, in Santo Domingo I feel at home, but better because of its rich cultural heritage and appreciation of Puertorrican culture. As Puerto Rico es a US territory, we cannot display the great cultural sovereignity that the Dominican Republic has.

Santo Domingo has very nice sightseeing places, the colonial zone, the Malecon, the 3 eyes.
Traffic is crazy, if you plan on driving, be ready for a wild ride, you have to break a few rules or you won't move.
In general, I felt safe, but I tried to stay in tourist places.
Beaches around the colonial zone and the Malecon are full of garbage.

I really enjoyed my stay in Santo Domingo!
I really enjoyed my stay in Santo Domingo! I am really interested in history and Santo Domingo is all about history! The first castle, fort, church, monastery in the New World! The first permanent settlement and first planned street in the New World. History is everywhere you go in the Colonial Zone. Excellent museums. A special call out for the underwater archaeological museum. The food, bars, and nightlife were all so much fun.

The location, the building, patio, roof terrace, room, good A.C. makes this hotel a great choice in Santo Domingo. You will be in Colonial Zone where history and great places are located including good restaurants and bars...plus night life. I would not think twice to come back to this boutique hotel. Highly recommend.
the best part for me is the staff at the front desk they was exceptional and very helpful. It's also a very clean and modern hotel with all the basic needs and easy to access all the main attractions in santo domingo and for the price and what you get you can't go wrong.
A romantic and small hotel in the middle of Zone Colonial. The staff are very helpful and they speak english what is not always common in Dominican Republic. They have a beautiful backyard where you can chill and have your breakfast.
Very nice ambience! The location is very central in the old colonial zone in Santo Domingo. The 24h service recepcion is very helpful and you have your own fridge in the room.
Very nice small hotel, located very well in Zona Colonial. Nice and clean room with amazingly comfortable beds. Host was helpful and welcoming. Enjoyed my stay!
