As every country's capital, Santo Domingo buzzes with life.
As every country's capital, Santo Domingo buzzes with life. You gotta know where you're going, you gotta be comfortable with long traffic times, constant construction sites and a lot of people around. There are really good restaurants and nightlife is pretty good. Colonial Zone is the historic site to go if you want to see the architecture, go to several museums at walking distance and learn about some of our history.

Take a guided tour through the colonial attractions, you will enjoy the history of the place much more. The fortress did have a nice interactive tour, also the Museo de las Casas Reales had a lot of information posted.
The food and shops in the Zona Colonial were more expensive than we really expected. But the Tourism Police have a constant presence and the whole area felt very safe. The staff at the hotel warned us about straying from the area though, so it is important to know where you are and what you plan on doing.
The Duarte wax museum was a pleasant surprise, and you should get to know the history of the Dominican Republic as it is fascinating. Even though they received independence from Spain in 1821, it wasn't really until 1965 that a truly independent democracy was established.

walking through ciudad colonial is a must..choosing where to eat is really hard..food quality is very low..i have tried a lot of different restaurants but was never 100% happy with the food...i wish the Indian restaurant had been open as i am sure it would have been delicious..the weather is too hot and humid to walk very far so it is a matter of continuously taking uber taxis.even so, i can never do all the things i want and its the 4th time i go there

it isn't the first time I visit but it is the first time i have used uber and it is a game changer..i mean in a hot humid chaotic city, even a person who loves walking like myself has to give it up...the only places you can easily walk around in , are shopping malls (the best is Agora mall) and the ciudad colonial. i have been told it is not safe at night but tbh i havent had any problem but cant guarantee it could be safe for everyone..
everyone is at Malecon , sea promenade, after 6pm, jogging, relaxing and eating..mind you, the water is extremely contaminated and smelly..nevertheless this city has got something special which makes u like it...and most people are friendly.. i dined at Layali arabic restaurant it was amazing with beautiful decor..and tasty food..$$..also dined on the top floor of agora mall..plenty of food stalls..i had chicken teryaki with rice $..if you avoid all tourist traps and buy your presents in the not so known shops and eat in the not so touristy spots, you will save a lot..pls some street vendors are extremely poor and even if you dont wana buy anything, a small change will make them happy..i always keep 100 pesos notes in my purse..around a dollar. dont forget to visit boca chica, a natural swimming pool where the water is crystal clear..weekdays best..weekend too crowded..only approx 20 min by bus

Great place to visit if you want to dance salsa or bachata.
Great place to visit if you want to dance salsa or bachata. You can attend a good dance lessons there. The city center (Colonial Zone) is pretty small and mildly interesting, you can see the most interesting places in few hours. Use uber/bolt to travel through the city.
Cheapest place in Santo Domingo but a bit shady and damp… and so noisy! There is a disco club and karaoke inside the hotel, so you have very loud music and people screaming all night.
Apart from that it’s not too far from the touristic places even though not properly in the zona colonial and there was hot water and private bathroom.
Breakfast was ok, eggs with a ham and cheese sandwich, and coffee and juice.
You really go there to have a cheap place to sleep but other than that it’s not a really nice place to hang around
The pool is amazing, long enough to swim laps lukewarm water and it's open 09am-12pm!!!
Views from the flat and the pool are great.
The flat has everything for a long stay too.
Netflix and cable channels.
At the Malecón where you can have run or walk at the sea breeze.
Super Market Nacional 5 min drive and 120 DOP with Uber.
20 min SAFE walk to Zona Colonial.
Johnny is awesome host.
All staff is friendly.
Been at couple of dozens hotels or apartments in Santo Domingo - this one has the best quality-location-price ratio!
We stayed in Las Mirabal Hermanas suite.l It's an amazing place. Lots of heart put in and well thought amenities, decor, guides, etc in the entire Casa.. It's a very high standard, above Dominican Republic. Breakfast was really nice too.
The place It's with lots of colour, truly amazing!
Received very good sightseeing tips from the owner with the highlight of the cable car journey. Also received some free cerveza.
Swimming pool which is well lighten at night. Whole place is really good.
Located a couple blocks from the buzzing Plaza Colon in the historic Zona Colonial, El Beaterio is itself filled with history. In both the public spaces and your room, the Dominican Republic’s past surrounds you. Rooms are spacious and filled with colonial era maps and pictures, and throughout the hotel, you can learn about the building’s and city’s history. Just as importantly, the staff are kind and helpful. Simply a lovely place to escape from the pulsing city.
Amazing view! Really unique! Very good breakfast catering also vegan and gluten free options. Fresh juices were made on site. Fitness center was well equipped and even had apples and cucumber water. Staff was very friendly. We have been to many 4 and 5 star hotels in Santo Domingo and this is now one of our favorites. We would definitely go back!
Stylish, bohemian chic hotel well-located in the historic center of the Santo Domingo. The staff and owners were friendly, helpful and welcoming. One of the best breakfasts that I have ever had. Comfortable bed and beautiful interior garden. We really enjoyed our stay!
A regular hotel when in Santo Domingo. Great location. Access to kitchen and coffee on tap. Friendly and accommodating staff. Free wi-if, works well enough to stream a movie in your hotel room. Quiet neighborhood with access to restaurants, malecon, colmados.
The hotel is well located, very close to the malecon and within walking distance of the old town. I was in Santo Domingo to renew my Residency and it is a short drive direct along the malecon to the Immigration office. It is very good value for money.
I love that the hotel was central to everything in Santo Domingo North, near the auto bus station. I like the room decor. I like the airport service fee for $25.00 and I like the fact that they were very knowledgeable about things to do in the area.
Great location, short Uber ride to the Colonial Zone. and the facilities very modern, clean and quiet. Water is hot and the WiFi is good for the Santo Domingo area with two or three short interruptions. Photos of the property are accurate.
The staff are very nice! The restaurant is decent and the location and parking practical! It’s a good place to stay for a night after arriving from the airport. Good price. Oh even breakfast was great! Good coffee in Dominican Republic!!!
Fantastic location one block from the centre of the Zona Colonial. Comfortable, friendly and clean. Great breakfast! I will stay at Casa Naemie every time I come back to Santo Domingo and recommend it to my colleagues.
This is probably the best hotel along the Malecon (waterfront) in Santo Domingo. It's within walking distance of all of Gascue. However, it is a bit of a hike from the Colonial Zone. Clean, modern, and well run.
Embassy Suites is our favorite hotel in Santo Domingo, excellent location, beautiful facilities, easy to park, many restaurants near by and great acomodations with an excellent view of the city.
