Nice places to visit, but lack of infrastructure.
Mount Bromo, one of the best attractions is only reached by Jeeps, in fact, very old cars, no seat belt, no comfort at all, if you are more than 1.8 m tall, as me, you will be no room for your legs, and have to stary more than 5 hours like a sardine in a can.
Too bad, the volcanos are wonderful and the beauty of the area breath taking.

Malang was the old Dutch colonial centre of East Java and where Dutch women and children were encamped by the Japanese. It has lovely, treed avenues and parks however it suffers from traffic congestion and poor air quality like the rest of Java.

Pros: Mount bromo volcano trek and paragliding was the superb activities. Paragliding costs only $25 USD. Also there are beautiful waterfalls nearby. Also made a vlog about Malang - https://youtu.be/8gy66jvhYXg
Cons: For english speaking people its best to find a tour guide who can speak in English
Beautiful building with lots of terasses and plants everywhere. The room and private bathroom attached to it were nice and clean. We were happy to have a big kitchen on the terasse. The kitchen was very complete with a lot of utensils .
There are an ATM and a small supermarket just next to the hostel
We booked tours to Tumpak Sewu and to Bromo which were great! They also organised us a ride to our next hotel in Banyuwangi.
The personal was very friendly and helpful.
The staff has been wonderful in catering to all our needs and always with a big smile.
Our room was spacious and every day we got we got two waterbottles for free. The housekeeping department is amazing and that was very much appreciated.
Near the hotel are an atm, supermarket and nice restaurants to visit, the and great tours to nature.

Probably one of the best places to stay in Malang, central (5 min walking distance from the train station), lovely pool area, wonderful staff, and last but not least a great restaurant. For me a 10 out of 10, if it weren’t for the problem below (see). Other than that, I’d totally recommend this hotel.
