A nice little town, there are the expected tourist shops sellign tartan tat, but ignoring those there's a good range of useful and interesting shops and cafe/restuarants, and the brilliant Pitlochry Theatre. If you can get a trip here when the highland games are on, they're not to be missed.

Although the place can be busy and crowded with other tourists at times, it maintains a nice ambiance. There are some excellent coffee/cake cafes and some good restaurants and its location is ideal for exploring the ‘lower’ highlands.

The performances at the Festival Theatre are always superb, and you can see half a dozen different shows in a week. Although we go specially for the Theatre, there are many attractive places to visit nearby, including fabulous shopping at House of Bruar, great waterfalls, sites of historic interest such as the soldier's leap and the castle at Blair Atholl, and there are many excellent places to eat. We particularly like the Plaice to Be for a cheap and cheerful meal.
1. The Welcome at reception.
2. The accurate Booking.com description and you do get the Backpacker experience that is promoted.
3. Clean bedding, loos and kitchen facilities.
4. Immediate proximity to Pitlochry main street and all it has to offer.
5. Awesome walks through stunning countryside.
