Every member of staff was very lovely and helpful and eager to help, the location and grounds itself were very pretty and scenic and it was in a real nice location. The pool looked very accommodating but never got chance to use it, and the rooms were very spacious.

The real stand out reason for visiting in the Matlock area...
The real stand out reason for visiting in the Matlock area has to be the industrial history but mostly the scenery. Derbyshire has some of the most stunning scenery in the UK, and I have travelled all over the UK, North, South, East and West.
The stone is different, the rolling hills and plunging valleys are different, and the history is unique.

Matlock is a small town with character.
Matlock is a small town with character.
Matlock Bath is a bit run down really with numerous chip shops and ice cream places. Seaside town without the sea! The Heights of Abraham is a definite place to visit but could prove expensive for a family.
Parking was very confusing in the station car park.

lovely setting: river, hills and chair lift. Good pubs, fish shops and easy to get to. Stellar history down the road at Cromford Mills. Well worth a morning visit to gain understanding of our industrial heritage.

Good Town situated on lovely river and beautiful countryside surrounding. Friendly people who were very accommodating and helpful. Parking not brilliant but everywhere has this problem these days, shop in Sainsbury’s then you can park there. We would visit again as enjoyed our time there. Had lovely lunch at one of the Lounges chain. Sadly The Tipsy Toad didn’t serve food, but looked a great place beside the river for drinks.

Amazing base for a holiday.
Amazing base for a holiday. I flew into Manchester, called into Lyme hall as you pass it, there's little brown signs to follow everywhere.
Pass through Ashford and Bakewell, stunning.
Matlock is larger, every amenity, beautiful park, great shops. There's a lovely river up to the Tor walk with amazing views. I couldve stayed longer...

The scenery around Matlock is gorgeous - I would have liked to have explored it further if I had more time. This was a short, intense work trip so I didn't do as much as I would have liked. Matlock as a town looks very pretty but everything shuts, it seems, by 5pm, so it was like a ghost town when I made my way into the centre. Some bars/restaurants were open but they were also quiet. The walk along the river Derwent is lovely, and I enjoyed it after a day spent indoors. I think Matlock is a good base to explore the surrounding countryside but the town itself doesn't have that much to see, unless I missed it all because it was shut!

Lovely hotel, beautiful room with tea, coffee biscuits and water, the staff were so friendly and always had time to chat to you. Breakfast was freshly cooked and the vegetarian breakfast was great with bubble and squeak and a derbyshire oatcake filled with cheese even had a choice of cereal, fresh fruit salad, porridge or yoghurt as well as the cooked breakfast.Would return to this hotel makes a great short break away and Matlock bath and surrounding areas are beautiful.
Fantastic location within walking distance (minutes) of Matlock Bath and Heights of Abraham. We stayed in the annex part of the hotel and it was lovely having a cuppa on the balcony in the morning sunshine overlooking the outdoor pool before going for a swim. We didn't use any other facilities but the bar and restaurant area looked contemporary and clean.
Second time we have stayed here staff very nice, hotel lovely and clean, great shower good facilities. Great for a one night stay at the price.Car parking next to hotel and the hotel owners encourage early arrivals to park there before check in and go to explore Matlock.Situated halfway between Matlock and Matlock bath can easily walk to either place.
Location ideal to explore Matlock Bath and the surrounding Derbyshire Dales. I was in the area for a half marathon and the hotel was ideally located for that event. Bed was very comfortable with a choice of pillows to suit. The breakfast was beautifully prepared and served fresh to order
We had the kingside room which had a four poster bed with amazing views of the matlock castle. The bathroom was also very nice and very big with a walk in shower. The food in the hotel was excellent and the staff were very helpful and there was a wide range of local ales for sale.
