Reception staff are superb and helpful, including arranging taxis and luggage storage after checkout. The room is very clean. The hot water comes almost instantly in the bathroom and the fixtures work very well, with precision. The suitcase holder is built into the wall to save space - very cool! Overall, a very welcoming hotel.
Located in central Gällivare, Scandic Gällivare is 7 minutes' walk from Gällivare Train Station. Free use of the indoor pool and free WiFi access.

The employees are nice and the breakfast is OK (nothing more than that), which does not cover up the fact that the management seems intent to save on maintenance while at the same time setting the room rates at unreasonably high levels.
Both free Wifi and parking on-site are available at Laponia Sky Hut free of charge. Towels and bed linen are featured in the luxury tent.

Wow! We highly recommend Laponia Sky Hut. We had a wonderful, cozy and relaxing time. We were welcomed and greeted by the owners (Denise and Stephan). Hospitality definitely 5+ stars!! We were served a full (buffet style) breakfast that Denise brought out to us in the morning in her boat. And a delicious, homemade dinner that was also brought out to our Sky Hut.
We sat and soaked up the sun on our personal deck while taking in the splendid vista surrounding us.

Gallivare is a mining town and in itself not particularly interesting for holiday takers but it provides good transport options to several of the national parks in the region.
It is possible to make some nice walks in the immediate vicinity of the town but these alone are not a reason to travel there.

The location is good - it is very close to the central station. Beds are quite comfortable and the room was clean. There is even a sink in the room which is a plus as there is no need to leave the room if one wants to, for example, brush the teeth. Although the price is relatively high, compared to other places in Gällivare (which are very few by the way) it is quite cheap for what it offers.
It's very close to the railway station (though Gallivare is hardly big). Check-in was easy, even though I arrived very late. Breakfast was fine, nothing special but perfectly reasonable. The few staff I met were very friendly.
