Hotel Marlowe Centro Histórico, hotel in Mexico City

Located in the heart of downtown Mexico City, this hotel has the perfect location with local shopping and public transportation only a short walk away.

The hotel's location is excellent for those interested in experiencing the atmosphere of this historic neighborhood in Mexico City. Landmarks of the city (Palacio de Bellas Artes and the central Zócalo, with its Cathedral and Government Palace) are within easy reach on foot. The room was sufficient for two people but would have been perfect if it had had space for two chairs and a small table. The hotel offers the option of five breakfast packages, a la carte breakfast or a combination of both at very reasonable prices. It is a hotel to return to!

FAQs about hotels in Mexico City

Aztec Capital and Vibrant Metropolis

As one of the biggest cities in the world, Mexico City could be better described as an experience than a city. Founded in 1325 by the Aztecs as Tenochtitlan, it was both destroyed and rebuilt by the Spanish in the 16th century. Nowadays, it is the capital of the United Mexican States and its most important economic and cultural center.

The city center’s cornerstone is the famous Plaza de la Constitución, commonly called Zócalo. It's surrounded by the presidential Palacio Nacional and the Mexico City Metropolitan Cathedral.

The Avenida de la Reforma was built under the brief rule of Archduke Ferdinand Maximilian of Austria, while the deposed president Porfirio Díaz left a characteristic fusion of French-Mexican architecture. The 1960s saw a demographic explosion that only now is starting to be completely absorbed.

From the Chapultepec Parks and the chic Polanco, to the gay area of Zona Rosa and the Bohemian and intellectual Coyoacán: let Mexico City tell you its thousand secrets and stories.

Most of the hotels are located around the Reforma area, the Insurgentes Avenue and the Zócalo. If you’re looking for 5-star hotels in Mexico City, the modern Santa Fe area has a recently redeveloped business sector.

This is an amazing city full of life and history!

This is an amazing city full of life and history! It is not for the faint of heart because it is extremely crowded and the traffic is like nothing I've seen before. The museums are amazing, especially the anthropolgy museum. The pyramids are a bit of a drive but well worth visiting. If you are looking to be right in the action and don't mind a bit of noise, stay need Centro/Zocolo. If you prefer a bit more quiet and want to be near the museums, stay near the park and Castle. Don't rent a car! Driving here would be a terrifying experience I think. Uber/Taxi. And plan to walk a lot!

    Mexico City is wonderful.

Mexico City is wonderful. The people are very loving and helpful. Although the City was really big we manage to get around with the help of locals. There are some part that are dangerous so i could recommend not to head down some dark allies and to be aware of the travel time the public transportation offers.

My last visit to Mexico City was only to transit, but so many fellow travellers recommended a week there was definitely spot on. A few days in Roma and a few days in the historical centre was perfect. Plan to Uber to Kahlo & Rivera museums.

A fantastic city for culture and history as well as fun bits. We stayed near Condessa, a very leafy area, and never experienced any trouble, There are may mueseums and Galleries to visit. We also had an evening watching the luche libre, Mexican wrestling, great fun. We struggled a little with finding great food but I think that is more our fault.

    Beautiful city, energetic and fun.

Beautiful city, energetic and fun. People are nice, I was a little bit worry about the safety before, but after I really go there, I do not feel unsafe for the five days stay, of course I only stay in the tourist region and did not just randomly go everywhere. I also took subway and bus once, I don’t think its dangerous. But of course I keep everything simple and do not bring valuable items. I would say yes, you don’t need to worry about traveling in Mexico City as long as you have some basic preparation and cautioned.

My husband and I were amazed of how beautiful Mexico City is. We felt safe at all times and looking forward to come back with family and friends. At first, we weren’t sure if we had chosen the right month to visit Mexico City in July but it was just perfect. We did get a little bit of rain but nothing too bad. The weather was perfect! We didn’t encounter any major traffic. The food, the museum the architecture. So much history. I couldn’t tell you one place in particular as everything we visited was amazing.

Lovely place, right in the centre of Mexico City, easily reachable from the airport and a great starting point to explore! Wolf recommended us a lovely roof terrace. He is a super kind and sweet person - and as per other reviews, his breakfasts are AMAZING! His house is also fantastic, full of books and paintings. A way more genuine experience than your usual hotel!
