As one of the biggest cities in the world, Mexico City could be better described as an experience than a city. Founded in 1325 by the Aztecs as Tenochtitlan, it was both destroyed and rebuilt by the Spanish in the 16th century. Nowadays, it is the capital of the United Mexican States and its most important economic and cultural center.
The city center’s cornerstone is the famous Plaza de la Constitución, commonly called Zócalo. It's surrounded by the presidential Palacio Nacional and the Mexico City Metropolitan Cathedral.
The Avenida de la Reforma was built under the brief rule of Archduke Ferdinand Maximilian of Austria, while the deposed president Porfirio Díaz left a characteristic fusion of French-Mexican architecture. The 1960s saw a demographic explosion that only now is starting to be completely absorbed.
From the Chapultepec Parks and the chic Polanco, to the gay area of Zona Rosa and the Bohemian and intellectual Coyoacán: let Mexico City tell you its thousand secrets and stories.
Most of the hotels are located around the Reforma area, the Insurgentes Avenue and the Zócalo. If you’re looking for 5-star hotels in Mexico City, the modern Santa Fe area has a recently redeveloped business sector.
Before arriving at Benito Juarez International Airport check out the Mexico City accommodations on Booking.com!
The Coyoacan suburb is delightful! The food choices are excellent! Remember to book the Frida Kahlo House ahead of time as they sell out a week before your trip date. You mus buy the tickets online! suburb.

I've been to Mexico City a few times over the past 10 years...
I've been to Mexico City a few times over the past 10 years and have always found new places to visit and restaurants to try. Most people working in local shops do not speak English, so using Google Translate or a similar app to transcribe a conversation is handy. This can also be used to photograph text in museums for instant translation. Feel free to practice your bad Spanish, no one will complain. While it's a huge city, it's really a collection of unique and interesting neighborhoods.
I use Uber, the Metro, and the bike share program (Ecobici) to get around. All are affordable by US standards. Hiring a guide for the major museums is highly recommended. I've used Context Travel twice (National Anthropology Museum and Chapultepec Castle) and would advise someone to use a guide for Temple Mayor, due the complex site and the size of the collection.
The climate is amazing - the record high temperature in 93 F, and it is mostly in the 70s during the day and 50s at night during the winter.

Very crowded especially in busses and in the park but it's fun with good music. The market we did some shopping too. Hop on hop off bus we were able to see part of the city with beautiful high rise buildings. Very friendly and helpful Mexican especially with our limited spanish they can grasp that we need direction. Weather was good while we were there and have fun with the 3 of us.

One of the most people and tourist friendly cities we have...
One of the most people and tourist friendly cities we have visited. It is filled with museums, history both recent and early, shopping of all kinds, and of course food. There are many parks with play areas for children. Michelin restaurants are everywhere, in addition to street food. Besides the obvious sights like the Sun and Moon pyramids, one can spend whole days in barrios like Roma, La Condesa, Coyocuan, Polanco, just walking around and seeing the architecture, visiting boutique shops and eateries, just enjoying the parks and the roadside sculptures. Walking through any of the Mercados is easily a 1/2 day experience. Zocalo, the city centre, a huge plaza near the Presidential Palace, is always buzzing with activity. The Anthropological Museum is a must see - it takes two days to see thoroughly. The museum is worth visiting just for its cafe - we had probably the best food at this cafe. we traveled mostly by Uber, but the subway system is quite extensive. Mexico City is a very big city that seems small because there is so much to see and experience all around. It's a walker's paradise in that sense - you don't have to go anywhere, just walk around the neighborhood!! Minor word of caution - some museums like Frida Kahlo's, and almost all the fancy restaurants require prior reservation!!

See reviews by guests who stayed at hotels in Mexico City
The hotel doesn’t look like much from the street or the lobby, but the room was large and comfortable. The location just four short blocks from the center of Mexico City is its best selling point. This is a no frills, very inexpensive hotel with a very convenient location.
lots of room space huge bathroom with hot water shower there’s also a fan. the hotel was always super quiet. perfect if you want to explore Mexico City for a couple days and want a cheap location not too far out. loved the late checkout time.
