This apartment was lovely, with a terrace and a fantastic view. Unfortunately, I couldn't really enjoy it as I stayed only for two nights because of an event in Russell. The Owner was very friendly, and I felt very comfortable there.

The longer we stayed here the more we liked it! The location is wonderful - just a very short walk to downtown Russell with shops and restaurants. And what you get in exchange is an incredible view! Bed was the comfiest of our trip - cushy and soft but not saggy at all. Good a/c but nice to have the doors open in the daytime. Lots of good walks and we swam a few times at the beach that was 2 minutes away. Great stay!

Russell is a very interesting historical settlement in a beautiful location. I also visited Paihia but prefer the vibe and location of Russell. I had dinner at the Duke of Marlborough Hotel. The location next to the bay was sublime, the food excellent. Also visited the Bay of Islands Swordfish Club which I learned was only the second game fishing club in the world (after the Catalina Club in USA. Very welcoming crowd to a fellow angler and great history.

Really good to get away from the crazy that can develop at Paihia. A little sleepy, but with great places and wonderful shops and restaurants. Rare to find historic towns that are as intact as Russell. Love the place. One of our favourites in New Zealand.

Russell is heavenly.
Russell is heavenly. It is so beautiful and we had the best time.
What a gem this part of the world has access to! The oysters were amazing. The food/experience and service at the Duke of Marlborough was first rate. The sunsets were surreal. The visit to Urupakapuka by ferry led to an amazing day of exercise and adventure, we had a heavenly swim in one of the islands isolated beaches by ourselves.
What a day!🥰

If you are around Bay of islands I suggest to not stay at Paihai and go to Russell. Smaller, quieter and much nicer. There is a ferry across to Paihai if you want to go there.
Long Beach is not to be missed and we enjoyed the Flagstaff walk too.

A boutique lodge located a very short walk into the idyllic town of Russell in the Bay Of Islands.
Greg and Peter are the best hosts. Before we arrived they recommended some superb places to eat. The breakfasts are to die for, beautifully presented and making use of ingredients from the garden Peter beats any chef I have encountered.
The rooms are tastefully kitted out with everything you could possibly want and have views overlooking the bay.
Couldn’t fault it, the most perfect three night stay!
A stay at the Duke of Marlborough has been on my bucket list for some time and it did not disappoint! I loved the historical décor, dinner for the two nights was delicious and the staff could not have been more helpful or friendly. Russell is a lovely little place to visit. Will definitely return for another stay
Comfortable and quiet cottage in the back garden of the owners' house. The cottage and garden are lovely.
Russell is lovely, with a beautiful foreshore with a waterfont path to walk along. On the other side of the path there is a good selection of restaurants and lots of pretty old timber buildings.
This hotel was one of the cleanest & best maintained that we’ve been to. The reception was welcoming & the way the people take care of the property and guests is exceptional. The magnificent view and location In Russell can’t be beat!
Conveniently located, overlooking the bay, spotlessly clean, everything you need for your stay. You can see the ferry to paihia, literally 1 minute walk to the jetty and the Duke of Marlborough hotel next door,
