Called the "City of Sails" due to the large number of yachts anchored in Waitemata Harbor, Auckland is the largest city of both New Zealand and Polynesia. Built on the Auckland Volcanic Field featuring about 48 extinct volcanoes, this city truly is a blast!
Auckland is a real cultural mix with strong Asian, European, Maori and Polynesian influences, celebrated in frequent festivals and sports events. Some examples of these cultures can be seen at the Auckland War Memorial Museum, one of the best in New Zealand. For more, try the upmarket dining of Viaduct Harbour.
Another must-see is the tallest free-standing tower in the Southern Hemisphere, the Sky Tower. If you’re feeling up to the challenge, you can even perform the Sky Jump, a controlled base jump from 630 feet!
Climbing the volcanic cones as well as the stunning Auckland Harbour Bridge will provide unforgettable, panoramic views of the city’s skyline. For a different perspective, why not try a cruise or sea kayaking?

Auckland is just a big city, a nice port and easy access to Waiheke Island. Wines in New Zealand aren't the best, but the wineries were fun to visit.
We aren't tour people so preferred the city buses which were convenient, cheap and dependable. On the whole, we prefer Australia, but a shout out to the Oyster Bar Inn on Waiheke Island. The best food, service and view of the beautiful bay with kiters and sailboats. Our highlight of our brief trip.

We took the " Half-day Discover Auckland City Sightseeing Tour" for about $40.00 and it was excellent. The driver told all kinds of information about NZ, not just Auckland. We had a good idea of the central city suburbs. There are a few places you can be picked up to go on the tour.

The property is located right on the most buzzing street of Auckland at walkable distance from multiple attractions like viaduct harbour, Albert's park and sky tower. The facilities were pretty good with a full kitchenette, washer dryer, dishasher, microwave and refrigerator. The room has a small patio overlooking the street and a glimpse of the harbour and has a set of chairs and coffee table to sit and soak in the view. The staff was very polite and helpful, guided us for attractions, public transport and airport cab.
Situated in Auckland CBD next to Sky Tower this hotel is as central as it gets. Transport from/to airport is easy with Uber. I reccon the hotel was built in the eighties and got a charm from that period. By that time this 14 story building must have been one of the highest in the neighborhood. The full English breakfast is well done. The rooms are tidy and well looked after. They leave messages if they cant tidy for instance the bed of some reason. Good!
Restaurant on site though it's not cheap. 5 minutes walk however there's a bakehouse with great hot and cold food, much cheaper. Also next to that is a liquor store supermarket and chemist. Good size room, comfy bed, great shower. I prefer this to all the other Auckland airport hotels I've tried. It's the best value for money.
I really loved the service - getting picked up by the hotel and dropped off at the Auckland International Airport was a great bonus and being able to park our vehicle somewhere secure for free for the week. Top notch staff and real close to airport.
Very close to the airport, Auckland CBD .
The free shuttle from the airport was a bonus. This hotel gives you a resort like feel . Landscape around the swimming pool is a delightful view .
