Hotel Beau Site - Rocamadour, hotel in Rocamadour

Grand Hotel Beau Site, full of charm and character, is ideally located in the heart of the medieval town of Rocamadour. Guestrooms are comfortable and unique in their décor.

Check in was quick, friendly & efficient. Room had well appointed decor with a view of the valley plus a full size bathtub! We hadn't made dinner reservations but staff accommodated us and even found someone who could deal with the language difference. Lovely breakfast on the outdoor patio. This is a beautiful medieval town without the damp cold or crowds of Mt. St. Michel. Was very disappointed our itinerary wouldn't allow for an extra night. Loved it and will definitely return.

Unbeatable location. Free parking nearby. The French lady who checked me in was lovely! They let me keep my suitcase there after check out time so I could explore without lugging it around. Fantastic view from window. Basic room that has everything you need. Bed was comfy. Breakfast was good.

The owner of this property was lovely and she prepared a wonderful breakfast and shared her knowledge of the local area. The lodging space is on the 2nd floor of the house (no elevator if you can't do stairs), and is spacious. It was very quiet as this is truly located in the countryside away from any town, so you get amazing views of the stars. It is a beautiful, tranquil setting.

The location is gorgeous and the property is impressive.

The location is gorgeous and the property is impressive. The grounds are beautifully kept and so are the facilities. The friendly, chatty manager is very helpful and very willing to offer suggestions for a memorable stay. We were fortunate to receive an unexpected upgrade into a very spacious and elegant suite! If you plan to walk to/from Rocamadour, expect to take 11-14,000 steps that day! We did not use the city elevators but chose to walk everywhere … lots of stone stairs! There’s a prescribed circular walking route. Suggest you decide ahead whether you want to take the sloping paved drive down to the bottom of town and the very long sets of stone steps back up OR the other way around. If you have mobility problems, there’s a cute (ticketed) tourist train you can use instead. Our dinner out was at a local farm restaurant featuring all sorts of grilled meat and fish within a walk of the hotel; we highly recommend it but forgot the name so ask the manager. Next time, we would not have breakfast inside the city because places were too touristy.

Rocamadour is pleasant but really just a tourist spot. The shrine is nice but not really special (unless you are a pilgrim!) and the town is just full of not very good restaurants and shops selling tourist nonsense. Spectacular looking town and worth a drive past - perhaps not worth staying in

You will never regret coming to this stunning place, it's shrines are incredible, its lore and history from 10th Century quite amazing. It was in the middle ages, the most important shrine in France, en route to Santiago de Compostella.

It's architecturally and historically, an important place. A must see, interesting visit with stunning views. The cleanliness of French towns that are this size is a tribute to the pride that the local and regional councils have for their culture and environment. There is a symbiosis between the stone of the area and the amazing structures that were created by intelligent, ancient craftsmen that leave you almost without words, such is the beauty of that creation. Rocamadour has all the elements of a visit that stays in ones memory. It has an enduring, timeless quality. A fairy-tale landscape. A wondrous, awesome testimony to a devoted and pious past.

The hotel was quite charming but small and part of an attractive old renovated building. The pool facing room was small but had a window for ventilation. We paid for the room around €82. Please be aware Breakfast is not included and charged as an extra €26 for two people. There is no evening dining on site so after a long drive, we had to drive out again to eat. On cleanliness, just one issue. The bath had another visitors hair remaining in it which was off putting and could have been cleaner. Otherwise, perhaps expensive for the facilities available but very pleasant staff.

The ambience is amazing as you enjoy the views of buildings built into the rocks around you or gaze at the valley you are in. The shops are a mix of interesting artisan shops or typical tourist ones. Good choice of plat de jours during the day but night time is more expensive as ‘reasonable’ plats are not offered at night. Generally the food is good, well cooked and plenty of choices. We ate at a restaurant called La Table de Cure. Great staff and very good food. Padiriac Cave is nearby and a good trip but choose your times and date carefully to avoid queuing.
