Would recommend going in times when there isn’t holidays booked it’s to busy and people are dirty they urinate were they want to and drink on the streets and liters everywhere and there is no space to drive or park. As a kid we use to go to margate in desembers and it was packed but it was still clean and people didn’t urinate in the pools and oceans because there was facilities to use know those facilities are in such bad shape that know one dare use them, taps are stollen seats are broken urine everywhere on the floors. It’s just bad. Best is to try and go just before peak season. I must also say the municipality and shop owners of all the coastal towns cleaned up the streets very fast after new years and hats of to them. Great job that was a big task

Well not so crowded compared to places like Durban.

Well not so crowded compared to places like Durban. But UGU district could not supply water for a number of days. The municipal infrastructure and the level of service has dramatically collapsed. There was refuse in every corner. But crime is almost not there. The place is very safe

Margate is just a dead town.

Margate is just a dead town. Fortunately, one could go to Ramsgate and the nearby places on Marine Drive. Visited the Wild Coast Sun, Lake Eland Game Reserve, St Michaels Beach and the Blue Lagoon.
