Immortalised in popular music, culturally diverse Brooklyn has achieved almost legendary status. On the western end of Long Island, across the East River from Manhattan, this huge NYC borough is so densely populated that if it were a city, it would rank as the 4th largest in the US!
The borough is joined to Manhattan by 3 bridges: Williamsburg, Manhattan and the iconic Brooklyn Bridge. It is also linked to Staten Island by the lengthy Verrazano Narrows Bridge. Ocean-going liners pass under here before docking at the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal in Red Hook. To the north-east, Brooklyn Bridge Park offers some of the best views of the Manhattan skyline, while south-east is the huge Prospect Park.
On one edge is Brooklyn Museum, the country’s 2nd largest art gallery, and just behind is the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens whose cherry trees bloom a vibrant pink. To the east are some hotels near JFK Airport, and there are more in neighbouring Queens.
At Brooklyn’s southernmost tip, Coney Island’s historic boardwalk has appeared in several films. Regeneration is underway to bring it back to its former glory, and the revamped Luna features a historic wooden rollercoaster. Also historic is the northern Greenpoint district with its elegant 19th-century houses.
Cheap Brooklyn hotels offer a good alternative to accommodation in Manhattan, so check Booking.com for the best deals.

Brooklyn is a vibrant area of New York.
Brooklyn is a vibrant area of New York. A truly upbeat and diverse town with soo much culture and experiences to be had. Good Hotel choice is paramount when it comes to getting the most from this area and Hotel 42 is excellent. If you have an exploratory nature then access to the public transport network is important, from here it is just around the corner. All restaurants and bars are a short walk away and boy is there plenty to go at. Sunday @ Brooklyn is awesome for breakfast, their steak and eggs are sublime not to mention their morning cocktail Bloody Sunday with Mezcal. In the evening a good bar is top of my list and if you like rock music the Rocka-Rolla bar is fantastic. I bought a T-Shirt and got cool compliments when I went into Manhattan. Major kudos in my book. There's much more to mention but this is a good start. We're definitely going back.

We loved this hotel.
We loved this hotel. The facilities were spot on for our needs (and given its NYc). We felt safe in the neighbourhood. Has lots of facilities locally ie shops, restaurants but most importantly ideal for walking to the subway (5 minute walk)

Brooklyn is a huge place, so reviewing it is a bit difficult. There are really nice parts and not so nice parts. It depends why you are there in the first place. I am there to visit family and am not doing a lot of very 'touristy' things. But the following are some highlights of Brooklyn that I have experienced. Red Hook district: small neighborhood on the water with so many great bars/restaurants and a bit of theater, and a GREAT grocery store (Food Bazaar). Prospect Park. Williamsburg for excellent shopping/dining. Nighthawk Theater (dinner and drinks served during movie). Brooklyn Museum of Art.

I would have done more , if i planned a little better, biking would have been a good option to get around locally and more details directly around the hotel, we found most things but a detailed note would have been nice.

Overpriced.
Overpriced. Pod Brooklyn is in a perfect location and they know it. The hotel offers you nothing but a prime location. They are not concerned with the comfort of their guests.
When I asked why the rooftop bar, restaurant, and other rooftop locations were closed, one staff member told me, “it’s not my problem”. He suggested I speak to a manager. When I asked where I could find one, he laughed and said, “they’re never here.”

See reviews by guests who stayed at hotels in Brooklyn
Brooklyn is a wonderful place and Hotel 42 was perfectly situated. It enabled us to reach New York City extremely easily too, which was an added bonus. They had an excellent laundry source too which made the stay ideal for us considering we'd just finished a very active first 4 days upstate following the Hudson River from the Source.
Located in a quite but well connected part of Brooklyn, the Box House hotel offered us a lovely accomodation with enough space for 4 people, clean and equipped with everything for having a quick breakfast (fridge, stove, coffee machine, dish soap). Breakfast is also available in the hotel restaurant, paying an additional cost.
