To many tartan shops . Plus charity shops which are far too pricey for second hand clothes. Great walks down by the theatre . A couple lovely coffee shops. . Best pubs we visited were the inn very pricey thou and McKays.

Lovely place to use as a base for exploring the Highlands.
Lovely place to use as a base for exploring the Highlands. We have family ties so are slightly biased! We had lovely food in our hotel, at Fern Cottage and Jessies. The Old Mill was perfect for evening drinks. We travelled to Glenshee, Braemar and Balmoral, Killiecrankie, Queens View and Aberfeldy. The Highland Chocolatier at Grandtully is fabulous but very expensive!

A beautiful location in the foothills of the Scottish Highlands. A busy main street wih lots of interesting shops. There is also the famous fish ladder at the hydro dam and the impressive Festival Theatre with its beautiful hillside garden dedicated to famous Scottish plant collectors.
Loch Tay and Dunkeld and Blair Athol are but shorty drives away.

I've been visiting Pitlochry since I was a child, so my view is slightly skewed by childhood memories: too many souvenir/gift shops now clutter the main street. Otherwise, the theatre is a highlight and, this year, we had our first visit to the Enchanted Forest which was stunning. All in all, this is a great place to spend a long weekend or a short mid-week break and it's a good stopping-off place on a longer trip to the Highlands. The scenery, at any time of year, is breath-taking, but autumn is particularly stunning.

Plenty of good walks in and around Pitlochry varying from moderate to strenuous. Eating out was an exceptionally good experience with a special mention for Fern Cottage and Victoria's restaurants and the Garden cafe, all within 5 minutes walk from our accommodation.

Small town, plenty to keep you leisurely occupied for a few days. A couple of free activities or visits and lots of walks and sights to see. Anything above that will cost unfortunately, food, drinks and entertainment costs quite a bit more than non tourist areas with little alternative. Accommodation is on a par with Edinburgh. If you are planning on going, just ensure you have enough money to enjoy your stay. A very pleasant enjoyable place with lots to do and enjoy, just overly expensive in my opinion.

This was our second stay at the Pitlochry Hydro. Breakfast choice was very good as was dinner. Comfortable bed but was a bit cold during the night and it wasnt clear how to turn on the room heating or thev radiator in the bathroom. We put the big blanket on the bed. One thing though the distance from the hotel to the town centre is stated as 0.2 miles on booking.com but its certainly furthur. We enjoyed our 2 night break.
Everything was perfect. A great hotel with everything we needed, ran by lovely, friendly people who were very helpful.
There was a path in the garden that led down to the back of the main street, so it was ideally located.
The bedrooms were nicely furnished and the bathroom was clean with toiletries provided.
There was an excellent choice for breakfast.
I will be returning next time we come to Pitlochry.
The location of the hotel is great for exploring Pitlochry by foot and close enough to other areas if using car.
The pool was lovely and a great experience for the younger ones in the family.
The dinner meal was lovely and the staff were very pleasant to deal with.
