Lyndhurst is on the edge of the new forests , lots of ponies , wild donkeys and cows ( yes cows) meandering about , so keep your speed down.
there are a few places to eat and drink in Lyndhurst. We especially enjoyed a passage to India which is one of the best Indian meals I have eaten.

Excellent for walking in the countryside.
Excellent for walking in the countryside. We could not have chosen a more beautiful and serene place. The locals were friendly, including one lone horse that we came across!
We stopped for a cuppa at The New Forest Inn, but we also walked past The Trusty Servant. Worth checking out. Very good value for money. Will definitely be visiting again

A small town with a very interesting museum about life in the New Forest through the ages. Many and varied eateries, and independent shops. A short stroll to the edge of the town is the entrance to acres of the New Forest with plenty of walks on well laid out paths enabling views of grazing ponies.

the main street is full of interesting shops. A short walk from them puts you into the grassland area of the forest. unfortunately there were roadworks when we were there. traffic queues were awful. hopefully be finished soon

there are plenty of good restaurants in Lyndhurst but what spoils it is the constant traffic although the hotel we stayed was just off the main road which was ok .If you are going to go cycling you need to stay outside Lyndhurst as you cannot cycle through Lyndhurst

The location was excellent. Even though the hotel is right on the roadside, it's so peaceful and calm that you won't even notice. Great distance to Beaulieu, Lyndhurst and Brockenhurst.
Unfortunately, we had to cut our trip short due to a family emergency. The staff were so understanding and helpful, and it really did ease the stress of this sudden change of plan.
Will absolutely be booking again to spend more time in the area
A clean, fresh, warm, very well run establishment with the friendliest and most professional of staff. Excellent well kept cellar and excellent food. Genuinely dog friendly. To stay at The Stag, is to feel comfortable and welcome. I highly recommend The Stag Hotel.
Excellent location for exploring. Hotel about 10 min walk from Lyndhurst town centre. Room was very clean and bed very comfortable. Shower was powerful and we also had a spa bath which was lovely. Breakfast was very tasty and staff very friendly. Would recommend.
My partner and I wanted to have a little getaway together and the Crown Manor House Hotel was the perfect place to stay. The service was absolutely lovely, we were right by the New Forest and town so everything was very convenient to get to.
