Good location for New Forest. Excellent breakfast, buffet but cooked food was good, and my requested gluten free toast and soya milk came very quickly. Cosy room, decor is to look traditional but my shower was modern and good water pressure. Very clean. Good selection of different types of tea next to kettle. Lighting good in room.
Excellent for walking in the countryside. We could not have chosen a more beautiful and serene place. The locals were friendly, including one lone horse that we came across!
We stopped for a cuppa at The New Forest Inn, but we also walked past The Trusty Servant. Worth checking out. Very good value for money. Will definitely be visiting again

A small town with a very interesting museum about life in the New Forest through the ages. Many and varied eateries, and independent shops. A short stroll to the edge of the town is the entrance to acres of the New Forest with plenty of walks on well laid out paths enabling views of grazing ponies.

the main street is full of interesting shops. A short walk from them puts you into the grassland area of the forest. unfortunately there were roadworks when we were there. traffic queues were awful. hopefully be finished soon

there are plenty of good restaurants in Lyndhurst but what spoils it is the constant traffic although the hotel we stayed was just off the main road which was ok .If you are going to go cycling you need to stay outside Lyndhurst as you cannot cycle through Lyndhurst

Very convenient for visiting Beaulieu Motor Museum which was a very enjoyable day out. The Bell Inn was a perfect place to stay & our room must have been upgraded as it was a large comfortable bedroom rather than the small one we had booked. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay & had we been golfers we would have taken advantage of the on site golf course.

Spent a perfect couple of nights with a friend at the Forest Lodge over the Bank Holiday weekend. Hotel ideally located, short walk into Lyndhurst. We had a good twin room at the front overlooking the common with horses grazing. Beds were extremely comfortable and shower was powerful. Great to have the pool. Staff were amazing. So friendly..particularly the reception staff...who couldn't have been more helpful. Just one thing I would say bathroom accessories and tea tray items were lacking.
Although the staff worked hard there seem to be no one in charge! Waited a long time to be served at the bar as only one person serving. First day no one took our breakfast order second day order was taken but forgot to bring it out!
Hotel was nice but I would recommend booking somewhere nearby in Lyndhurst for food.
The service was excellent. Its been a long time since we received service of this standard in a hotel anywhere. The staff are friendly and appear to genuinely want to please guests. The location is perfect for a short stay in Lyndhurst and the New Forest. Highly recommended.
The Penny Farthing was a lovely hotel, very friendly staff, very comfortable, clean rooms and a great breakfast. It was situated right next to the centre of Lyndhurst with easy access to all the shops, cafés and the Heritage museum.
