FAQs about hotels in Blackpool

Beside the Seaside, Beside the Sea

A favoured holiday spot since the Victorian era, Blackpool is a traditional English seaside town. Amusement arcades and crazy golf courses line the promenade and dotted between them are plenty of places to pick up fresh fish ‘n’ chips and Blackpool rock.

On the 5-mile sandy beach, children can enjoy Punch and Judy shows and donkey rides. Old-fashioned entertainment at its best. At the other end of the scale is the Blackpool Pleasure Beach, a fairground complex comprising a variety of rides, including The Big One - once the world’s tallest and steepest rollercoaster. They actually had to get permission from nearby Blackpool Airport to erect it!

More seaside pursuits are on the town’s 3 piers, one of which is Grade II listed. However, the most recognisable landmark is the Blackpool Tower which houses a circus, 4D cinema and a world-renowned ballroom, to name a few. Modelled on the Eiffel Tower, it is spectacularly lit during the annual Blackpool Illuminations, when the whole town is bathed in bright lights. The trams plying the prom are also lit. Look out for the one shaped like a ship.

A popular stag and hen do destination, Blackpool offers accommodation ranging from North Shore hotels to South Shore B&Bs - see Booking.com for the best choice.

Blackpool is very beautiful, there is where to walk, the embankment, the tower is magnificent, the aquarium is a miracle, the wax figures are wonderful, many cafes, children's attractions, a water park, a zoo. There are many interesting places where you can have a good rest. I recommend it. Hotel Claremont everything

It is the home of Entertainment in the North West of England. I went into the tower, Ballroom. It was stunning, staff really knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. The piers, bars & restaurants were really nice and what I saw of Blackpool, it was clean and tidy. The people I talked with fellow travellers or just local workers & residents were so friendly, but that is Lancashire for you, very genuine and kind

Blackpool is on the decline, and has been for a very long time. Every place I have stayed in over the last 4 visits have been below standard. When you see the amount of Door Supervisors on the door of every licenced premises, it tells a story. Winter Gardens charged £6.20 for a pint of Coors and £6 for a 330ml bottle of Peroni.

We booked the trip for blackpool for the elephants farewell weekend in Blackpool Tower, for the hospice, (Brian's House Children's Hospice). We found the event good and interesting. We also got to have look round, the pier and promenade shops. Cant wait visit again. We mostly ate with in Coral Island, mainly the Coral Harbor , tasty food great value. We walked everywhere as our apartment was only 10-15 minutes away so could access all attractions.

Great range of attractions and activities for families.

Great range of attractions and activities for families. Everything we wanted was along a ten minute tram line from our hotel (Big Blue - fantastic for families) apart from the zoo which was easy enough with a bus from the opposite the tower. Plenty of family daytime (from 10 or 11am for most places) activities evening entertainment with the arcades. Essential places with our kids are the Pleasure Beach (we always end up going twice they love it that much), the Zoo, Sea-Life, Coral Island. Great places with two young kids were Big Blue hotel, Gruffalo, Backlot cinema Imax, the big wheel on central pier. Places we went on previous trips but gave a miss this time were Madame Tussaud's (kids only know the Marvel characters and the Queen so not worth the price for us), the tower (good the first time but not worth the price for a second trip), the circus (great but a bit long for younger ones), other arcades (better value to stick to one), Sandcastles Water Park (great if your kids love water play but ours aren't too fussed and aren't big enough for most of the slides so not worth the price for us), the illuminations (oldest was amazed on first visit when he was 3 but we've gone for earlier in the year since). My tips would be, choose a hotel on the prom / tram line and get a travel pass (Big Blue really is fantastic for kids and great value when we booked a few months early) and it's like being in a resort for ease of getting to everywhere, use clubcard points for attractions such as the Pleasure Beach and Zoo, look at the multi attraction passes if wanting more than one, stick to one arcade for games that give out tokens to get the better prizes (we like Coral Island), don't buy game tokens for the Pleasure Beach!
