A favoured holiday spot since the Victorian era, Blackpool is a traditional English seaside town. Amusement arcades and crazy golf courses line the promenade and dotted between them are plenty of places to pick up fresh fish ‘n’ chips and Blackpool rock.
On the 5-mile sandy beach, children can enjoy Punch and Judy shows and donkey rides. Old-fashioned entertainment at its best. At the other end of the scale is the Blackpool Pleasure Beach, a fairground complex comprising a variety of rides, including The Big One - once the world’s tallest and steepest rollercoaster. They actually had to get permission from nearby Blackpool Airport to erect it!
More seaside pursuits are on the town’s 3 piers, one of which is Grade II listed. However, the most recognisable landmark is the Blackpool Tower which houses a circus, 4D cinema and a world-renowned ballroom, to name a few. Modelled on the Eiffel Tower, it is spectacularly lit during the annual Blackpool Illuminations, when the whole town is bathed in bright lights. The trams plying the prom are also lit. Look out for the one shaped like a ship.
A popular stag and hen do destination, Blackpool offers accommodation ranging from North Shore hotels to South Shore B&Bs - see Booking.com for the best choice.

It is the home of Entertainment in the North West of England. I went into the tower, Ballroom. It was stunning, staff really knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. The piers, bars & restaurants were really nice and what I saw of Blackpool, it was clean and tidy. The people I talked with fellow travellers or just local workers & residents were so friendly, but that is Lancashire for you, very genuine and kind

Blackpool is on the decline, and has been for a very long time.
Every place I have stayed in over the last 4 visits have been below standard.
When you see the amount of Door Supervisors on the door of every licenced premises, it tells a story.
Winter Gardens charged £6.20 for a pint of Coors and £6 for a 330ml bottle of Peroni.

We mostly ate with in Coral Island, mainly the Coral Harbor , tasty food great value.
We walked everywhere as our apartment was only 10-15 minutes away so could access all attractions.

Great range of attractions and activities for families.
Great range of attractions and activities for families.
Everything we wanted was along a ten minute tram line from our hotel (Big Blue - fantastic for families) apart from the zoo which was easy enough with a bus from the opposite the tower.
Plenty of family daytime (from 10 or 11am for most places) activities evening entertainment with the arcades.
Essential places with our kids are the Pleasure Beach (we always end up going twice they love it that much), the Zoo, Sea-Life, Coral Island.
Great places with two young kids were Big Blue hotel, Gruffalo, Backlot cinema Imax, the big wheel on central pier.
Places we went on previous trips but gave a miss this time were Madame Tussaud's (kids only know the Marvel characters and the Queen so not worth the price for us), the tower (good the first time but not worth the price for a second trip), the circus (great but a bit long for younger ones), other arcades (better value to stick to one), Sandcastles Water Park (great if your kids love water play but ours aren't too fussed and aren't big enough for most of the slides so not worth the price for us), the illuminations (oldest was amazed on first visit when he was 3 but we've gone for earlier in the year since).
My tips would be, choose a hotel on the prom / tram line and get a travel pass (Big Blue really is fantastic for kids and great value when we booked a few months early) and it's like being in a resort for ease of getting to everywhere, use clubcard points for attractions such as the Pleasure Beach and Zoo, look at the multi attraction passes if wanting more than one, stick to one arcade for games that give out tokens to get the better prizes (we like Coral Island), don't buy game tokens for the Pleasure Beach!

It is trying to clean up its act and we like it,but keep your whits about you as there are a lot of people about that are down on their luck, most are very nice but look a bit scary, mainly homeless .
The owners and staff are very friendly and accommodating. They go out of thier way to ensure a comfortable stay.
Cheap and cheerful. Standard room with TV, shower and toilet.
So close to everything you need, cafes, amusements, seafront, blackpool tower, high street.
No curfews come and go as you please. Great lounge area when you're not in your room. Bar area. Smoking area.
Thank you Sellina and family for an amazing stay. Would recommend 👌
Excellent central location with parking very close by. Cannot fault the hotel stay-or improve it in any way. So clean, orderly, well equipped and comfortable. Staff were brilliant and room was spacious. Many breakfast options in close proximity ,but very reasonable option for room service upon request . Highly recommended -it will be our absolute first choice for our next stay in Blackpool .
The owner's of this Hotel are extremely charming making you feel most welcomed on arrival. Lovely on-suite room provided and with out a doubt the best Breakfast I've had in years. The hotel is conveniently located near the seafront close to local Tran and Bus services. This is now my first choice of hotel in Blackpool. A big thank you too the owner's at Highfield, best wishes 😁
Location was perfect for coming out the hotel to either go left to the pleasure beach/sandcastle walking distance or right for Blackpool tower and shops. Very happy with parking being available at a good value price
