A favored vaction spot since the Victorian era, Blackpool is a traditional English seaside town. Amusement arcades and crazy golf courses line the promenade and dotted between them are plenty of places to pick up fresh fish ‘n’ chips and Blackpool rock.
On the 5-mile sandy beach, children can enjoy Punch and Judy shows and donkey rides. Old-fashioned entertainment at its best. At the other end of the scale is the Blackpool Pleasure Beach, a fairground complex comprising a variety of rides, including The Big One - once the world’s tallest and steepest rollercoaster. They actually had to get permission from nearby Blackpool Airport to erect it!
More seaside pursuits are on the town’s 3 piers, one of which is Grade II listed. However, the most recognizable landmark is the Blackpool Tower which houses a circus, 4D cinema and a world-renowned ballroom, to name a few. Modeled on the Eiffel Tower, it is spectacularly lit during the annual Blackpool Illuminations, when the whole town is bathed in bright lights. The trams plying the prom are also lit. Look out for the one shaped like a ship.
A popular bachelor and bachelorette destination, Blackpool has accommodations ranging from North Shore hotels to South Shore B&Bs - see Booking.com for the best choice.

Who doesn't love Blackpool, plenty to see and do, especially if you love fairgrounds. Lots of eating places, I would recommend going a little later in the year when its warmer, but hey we can't choose our birthdate can we!

Blackpool is a City by the Sea and offers something for everyone. It clearly has it's problems in places but there's plenty to choose from between Starr Gate and Fleetwood ! Use the local public transport - the famous trams, and the Buses to get a real idea of what makes the resort 'tick' !

I travelled up from London.
I travelled up from London.
When I came out of North Blackpool station, The first thing I heard were seagulls. I knew then I was in Blackpool.
As I was going back from a restaurant to my pre booked hotel, around 10pm, I saw 6 big fat seagulls swooping down into the driveway of a house. I thought, this must be Blackpool.
There were many shops closed with shutters down when they should be open. Many more charities shops open, unproportionate to other retailers.
The battery on my phone died, as I was using google maps, too much. Luckily, I found a big library in the town centre and asked the Liberian if I could charge my phone there. She happily assisted, but warned/cautioned me about leaving my bag or phone unattended. I thanked her, went to a table and set up my phone on charge. I only then realised the Liberian's warning as there were 2 other people there who were obviously sleeping rough and had come into the library just to stay warm.
I did wonder if this was the general situation of Blackpool or whether I just landed in a particularly rough spot.
Maybe I should come again another time when the weather is warmer, just to get a another view. Hoping that Blackpool stands up to it name traditionally of "sunny Blackpool"

The centre of Blackpool is a very poor area with many homeless/challenged people. I'm sure there are many quality traditional guest houses and hotels but first impressions are dilapidated buildings and more boarded up. It is popular with stag and hen parties

Staff always welcomed you with a smile and asked if anything was required. We stayed 9 nights £333 ( family of 4 ) and room was clean and tidy with coffee/tea facilties. Ensuite with shower. Location is excellent less than 5 mins walk from the blackpool tower and local shops. Fresh towels for the asking. If u want left to yourself and no fuss this is the place for you. If you want pampered and doted on pay for a more expensive hotel. To rest your head at night and prime location and cheap this is fine.
The owner's of this Hotel are extremely charming making you feel most welcomed on arrival. Lovely on-suite room provided and with out a doubt the best Breakfast I've had in years. The hotel is conveniently located near the seafront close to local Tran and Bus services. This is now my first choice of hotel in Blackpool. A big thank you too the owner's at Highfield, best wishes 😁
Cosy hotel, great owner, she was very friendly & accommodating.. Location super. CAr park few foot away. 18 hours £16.
Brekkie was good overall. Selection was great. Eggs Benedict wasn’t the best I’ve had but everything else we got was bob on. Bed was comfy. It’s one of the better cheap Blackpool hotels I’ve stayed in. Would return.
One of the best hotels we have stayed in at blackpool. The family room was a great size for the kids too. Anything we asked the hotel wasnt a problem at all either and already told friends and family about the hotel
Hotel was clean, nice bathroom and shower. Room small but overall very good value and in a good location for the Blackpool Tower, Wintergardens and the seafront.
