After I complained about the room in the Börsen Annex, I was given a standard double room in the main hotel building, including breakfast (free of charge). The staff were very polite and helpful. Breakfast options were varied and appropriate for travellers with various dietary requirements.

A wonderful stay for lovers of history—my room dated back to the 14th century. The staff were always helpful, the breakfast tasty and I had a delicious bowl of soup on a night when I was too tired to eat out. Excellent wine too. All the benefits of a hotel but also felt homey and relaxed.
Kalk Hotel is boutique hotel located on Strandgatan, in a beautiful building from the 17th century, carefully renovated with a stylish interior and Gotland details.

Underbart hotell där hunden får följa med överallt.
Visby is nothing short of magical. Walking along the ancient city walls and exploring the picturesque alleys feels like stepping back in time. The stunning views of the Baltic Sea, especially during sunset, were breathtaking. This is a Swedish gem for anyone looking for a blend of history, beauty, and tranquility.

Visby offers a wealth of history with its well-preserved...
Visby offers a wealth of history with its well-preserved medieval architecture, including the impressive city wall and numerous church ruins. The old town is featuring charming cobblestone streets and vibrant rose-covered cottages. The Botanical Garden is also worth visiting for its diverse plant life and tranquil atmosphere. The surrounding Gotland countryside is equally beautiful, offering stunning coastal views and picturesque villages. Everything worth visiting in Visby is within walking distance.
However, a common challenge for tourists in Visby, as in many popular destinations, is finding dining options that aren't primarily aimed at tourists. Many restaurants in the old town cater to visitors, which can mean higher prices and a less authentic culinary experience. Sankt Hans Café left a good impression, offering a more genuine taste of local cuisine.

Loved exploring the old churches and reading the stories about the old wall. The old town is easy and fun to explore over a long weekend. It has cobblestoned streets so leave your fancy shoes at home. Very walkable, but there are also a handful of taxis. There are many bike hire places and coastal rides to do. There are lots of good places that have honest pricing to eat and drink at if you look around. Most places are very expensive to stay in within the old town. Book at least six months in advance to have a choice.

A very interesting place with lots of history especially from the Hanseatic times. The city walls alone are so impressive, as are the old church ruins and the old houses preserving the historical atmosphere. At the same time it is a lively location with nice places to enjoy a coffee or a dinner. Am very glad I finally visited and can definitely recommend.

Visby is easy to be without a car, we walked everywhere.
Visby is easy to be without a car, we walked everywhere. Apart from the centre with all of the historical buildings we went for a walk to the cliffs which was incredible. Another place to walk is a promenade with beautiful views. We also visited a library which is exceptional and also have a cafe. We were in pizzeria Milli Lire in the centre with fantastic pizza and service. We highly recommend Italian restaurant Isolabella where we went for lunch buffet fro food and service. There are some nice shops with locally made products that we recommend.
The hotel the located right in front of the ferry terminal but 1-2km away from the Visby old town. So you would need to either walk a few kilometers or rent a car or a bicycle. Greate range of food for breakfast. You need to book a time slot at the hotel's restaurant for breakfast. The room and bathroom were spacious. The staff was very helpful and pleasant.
We've got early checkin. Room was exactly what we've asked (top floor sea view bath tub). Good quality wifi but not encrypted. Sound isolation excellent. room climate exellent. Front desk person drove us to airport with Visby town short of taxi, which is exceptional service.
The staff was helpful and breakfast was delicious! The breakfast was served about 50 from the hotel, but it wasn't an issue - just lovely little walk. Location was perfect, if you want to stay in Visby. Soaps and shampoos were great! :D
