Great location in a quiet area (apart from the occasional plane) with a few decent restaurants nearby and always tuktuks around for visiting other places.
Amazing and cheap bakery downstairs, and they refilled our 6l bottle of water when needed. They also sorted out our laundry even though they don't offer it usually. Wifi was very good. We extended our stay.

It is easy to get around Panglao. There are various famous restaurants in Panglao, and most of them offer new and delicious food. We ate in the Mosa, Jumbo Crabs, Mist, Barwoo, and many more. Their foods are delicious and authentic, with huge servings, but pricey.
Most of the restaurants are open from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. If you want to eat midnight snacks, it will be very difficult for you to find one at midnight because the majority of the restaurants are closed. You would see some open bars, but if you are not a fan of bars, you may not enjoy it.
You should also try eating the sea urchin. It is delicious and available in the afternoon.
What I don't like in Panglao is the expensive tricabs. The minimum price is 150 pesos, which is for me not ideal.

Get a car, but don't just blindly follow google maps in the rainy season! The unpaved roads flood easily and are full of potholes. There is cheap and amazing food everywhere and I was blown away by most of my meals. Much, much more peaceful that nearby Taglilabran (spelling?). Very very safe but also dark and rural. Bring plenty of bottled water as you'll sweat a lot even in the cold season, like most tropical places. Between Manila, Clark, Davao, and Cebu on this trip, Panglao was my favorite of all. I didn't even go to the beach as I was primarily there for aviation reasons and still loved it. If you do like planes, the TAG airport is very accessible around the fence line and you can get very close to the fence at either end of the runway (but only ticketed pax can enter the terminal roadways). I was there during a flood event which is common, as are power interruptions. It'll be a bit if culture shock if it's your first trip to an underdeveloped place, but I felt very safe everywhere I went honestly. The mainroad just South of the airport has so many high end but inexpensive restaurants that you'd need weeks to try everything!

In general, the people of Pangalo are very courteous. They always greet you with good morning or good evening. The main attractions are in mainland Bohol. I went to Panglao for the August 2026 Bohol International Marathon. Since it is my first time to visit Bohol, I thought the run course will be along the beach - i mean, i thought majority of the roads of Panglao are coastal. It could have been amazing.
Boracay is more vibrant than Panglao tho Food is cheaper in panglao, people are friendlier in Panglao.
Nice places like ( Paprika restaurant, Bee Farm, Amorita for example ) are scattered. You have to take tricycle, they are not walking distance from each other. I love having sunset cocktails on my holidays, so I strongly recommend Paprika, Amorita resort, Oceanica resort.
For activities, we enjoyed the Loboc river cruise... it was short but well organized and is worth the money.
of course, snorkeling or diving is a must.
Seafood at Lamoy restaurant is also recommended - stay indoors tho because there are lots of children / beggars outside.

Lots of fun things to do in Panglao Island. The land tour - which includes the tarsier sanctuary, river boat lunch, butterfly farm and chocolate hills - is great. You have to pick the right beach - Alona is too crowded, narrow and not well maintained. I recommend Dumaluan beach - less crowded and cleaner.
Lots of restaurants too around the island, and for less than 5 euros, can get around on tricycles quite easily
A good vacation spot for families.

Too many annoying sales people at Alona beach. Nice beach, but pretty annoying one cannot even sit and eat without people trying to sell stuff. Parents are even sending their kids to play guitars when your sitting and eating. Sorry to say, but there must be much better locations in Pangloa then Alona beach

Relaxing place for a vacation with lots of restaurants to choose and cafe shops with instagrammable ambiance. One thing though is that they have high standard rates and you cannot choose practical restaurants that are not that expensive except for Jollibee and Mc Do they are fastfoods.

The hotel I stayed in this time completely exceeded my expectations.It is only a few minutes' walk to the beach. The staff were also very friendly, and the room was very clean. There is a beautiful swimming pool on the first floor, and I played in the pool with friends for a long time at night. The food in the hotel restaurant is also very delicious, but the variety is a bit limited. Next time I will come to this hotel again when i visit Bohol again。
We had a very comfortable stay. Facilities were as we expected. Restaurant had a good selection on the menu and reasonably priced. Pool was good, and the beach is continually patrolled by the hotel's security team. The warmth and the friendliness of the staff who were also willing to go the extra mile to assist us takes our rating off the charts. Thank you Bohol Beach Club for your superb and faultless customer service by all staff.

Infinity pool, with a great bar, serving drinks lunch and dinner at the swimming pool or at the beach. Barman Markie is the best :)
All the staff was super super friendly and always helpful and making our stay awesome. Our 1-year old daughter was treated like the queen of the hotel :)

Wonderful location: close to Alona beach and all the main facilities (bike rentals, restaurants etc.) but in a very quiet corner! Easy to get to other places in Panglao and Bohol.
