Really conveniently located to Miyajima for a day trip. Traditional room and bed which is a nice experience. The private onsen was epic and worth paying the extra to experience on the trip. Also enjoyed the boat ride over to Miyajima thought the commentary is all Japanese. Views of the island and water were excellent particularly for sunset. Good size room.
Renewed in 2013, Sakuraya offers affordable Japanese-style rooms with mountain or sea views. Free Wi-Fi is available at the public areas. Miyajima Ferry Terminal is a 3-minute walk away.

We enjoyed the opportunity to try a more traditional accommodation experience with the Japanese style rooms, dressing up in our robes for dinner, and the dinner itself was really fun. It’s very traditional so we didn’t necessarily love every single item on the menu but it was great to be able to try so many dishes (including one you cook yourself) and we left feeling very full! The hotel is on the other end of town from the ferry terminal but they provide free transfers and you are very close to the shrine so great to pop out in the morning before the crowds arrive.

Superb staff service and attitude. Food was excellent. The Onsen next door was a bonus. The Dinner was amazing and pushed our boundaries (in a good way) a little.

Lovely traditional Japanese room overlooking the ocean. Our dinner was delicious and beautifully presented. The staff were very friendly and attentive. We really appreciated the shuttle service and especially liked that they came and picked up our luggage so we could explore the island before checking into the hotel and kept them after checkout and brought them to the ferry terminal when we were ready to leave the island.
Jukeiso features Japanese-style rooms overlooking the majestic entrance gate (Torii) of Itsukushima-jinja Shrine, only a 5-minute walk from the Unesco World Heritage Site itself.

The view from the room was almost paranomic. The room was huge and clean. The bus service was handy. Excellent food facilities and hospitality.
On average, 3-star hotels in Miyajima cost £197 per night, and 4-star hotels in Miyajima are £367 per night. If you're looking for something really special, a 5-star hotel in Miyajima can on average be found for £491 per night (based on Booking.com prices).
It is so worthwhile to stay overnight in Miyajima
It gives you time to take the ropeway cable car up the mountain, and potentially hike to the top. You get to see the Torii gates at all different tides, and without the crowds.

A full day on Miyajima is a good amount of time to explore this pretty island. Catch the 2 stage gondolier up Mount Misen (or climb the trail if you're feeling active) and explore the trails, the ancient shrines and temples and then admire the views at the top. Once back down again, the beachfront is picturesque and nice to wander along admiring the island at low tide.

We only stayed one night, but I wish we stayed 2-3. I left feeling like I only scratched the surface. Beautiful and peaceful place to unwind, especially after visiting the Peace Park Museum in Hiroshima.

It is a magic island where I would spend at least a couple of full days by sleeping in an authentic hotel with futon beds. If you can, i recommend to do the hiking of the main mountain (not difficult at all)

If you are an elderly Japanese teetotaller who likes simple food, an onsen and beautiful views this is the place for you!
If however, you also like your hotel to be multi generational, with a nice bar, good food and a welcoming atmosphere, this is definitely not the hotel for you.

We stayed 2 nights but wish we could have stayed longer.
We stayed 2 nights but wish we could have stayed longer. We took one whole day climbing the mountain, which was great but time consuming, so we ended up not seeing everything on our list. Keep in mind that the restaurants and bars close by 7 or 8 pm because all of the tourists leave the island around 5:30 pm. You really get to enjoy the beautiful island in peace and quiet in the morning and evening before the boats of tourists arrive. It was our favorite place we visited in Japan!
Wonderful dinner, onsen, breakfast, views from the room. We loved our stay! The shuttle makes it very convenient to get to the hotel, but it's a lovely walk if you would like to walk a little bit. The shuttle also runs at night if you want to take a night walk to see the Miyajima views in the night lights!
This hotel is amazing. It is located in a beautiful setting and it is steps away from the main shrine. The staff was wonderful made us feel like royalty. The onsen was perfect to relax after a long day od walking. I highly recommend this hotel when staying in Miyajima.
Shuttle bus between Miyajimaguchi station and the hotel.
Evening boat cruise from the hotel pier to the "floating torii at Itsukushima Shrine.
Tasty and light pasta dinner at the western restaurant on premise.
Hospitable and friendly staff.
Spacious room.
The hotel is very much near to the ferry terminal and also it is walking distance to the station. There are restaurants around the hotel. You can see the night view of Miyajima and come to the hotel. Also the luggage drop off is available.
We loved our stay in Miyajima, what a magical place. The staff at Sakuraya were really friendly and helpful and also we had a nice breakfast for 500Y. Rooms are really nice Japanese style rooms.
