Acacia Caravan Park & Holiday Units, hotel in Ararat

Situated just less than 1 km from J Ward Museum, Acacia Caravan Park & Holiday Units provides accommodation in Ararat with access to an outdoor swimming pool, a garden, as well as a shared kitchen.

We were welcomed by the staff and made to feel like family, the unit/cabin exceeded our expectations and was well worth the $$'s we paid, it certainly had more benefits that more expensive accommodation in the big cities. We would definitely return if every that way again. Inspection of the caravan park sites, the camp kitchen and amenities block made us feel we would use them when travelling with our caravan.

Personally went to Ararat for ghost hunting at Aradale asylum and found myself quite happy with the other facilities, the town is quite cute with not too heavy traffic at most points of the day with good historical sightseeing and nature views!

It was a good a good base for two nights (we booked an extra night) because it is easy drive to Halls Gap to walk in the Grampians and also tour around the area. Ararat has a museum, art gallery and delightful gardens to walk through. Has retained lot of Art Deco buildings which gives it a lovely ambience.

Local interesting history, being the JWard prison and Ararat Lunatic Asylum - both worth a visit. Town centre has ample cafes and restaurants to suit all tastes, and shopping to suit all interests. Short drive to Stawell, Halls Gap and Grampians. An interesting and worthwhile place to visit.

Easy to walk around the town, restaurants within easy walk.

Easy to walk around the town, restaurants within easy walk. The Alexandra Gardens were beautiful to wander around and with a cafe as well. The Chinese heritage building was worth a visit with kids, they tried gold panning, dressed up and wrote their names in calligraphy while learning a little bit about the history of the town. A few restaurants looked ok in the main street, we chose Khoon Thai and certainly werent disappointed.

We found Ararat to be a very friendly place. Everything with in easy walking distance, as we came by train. We had dinner at the RSL and were very pleased with the generous meal and atmosphere. Another dinner at Sicilians restaurant, great food and service. The Information Centre staff very helpful and informative.

I stayed in The Apartment, which is on the same upstairs level as the pub. Big rooms, well lit and with plenty of space. Located in Ararat's main shopping street, but not the highway, so it's convenient but not noisy. Bed was warm and comfy. The pub itself is a good one, with great meals and beer right on the doorstep. Similar rate to a motel room, but had more of an apartment feel for the money.
