Called the Amber Capital of the World, Gdańsk is the major shipping seaport and the most beautiful city along the Polish Baltic coast. It has everything a city of this scale needs: a fascinating history, great architecture and a friendly atmosphere!
Also known as Danzig due to its complex past with periods of Polish, German and self-rule, the city is part of the Tricity urban area together with the port city of Gdynia and the popular spa town, Sopot. It’s also a birthplace of the world-famous Solidarity movement, which helped to bring down the Communist rule in Poland initiating the end of the Cold War era.
Its charming buildings were rebuilt in a historical style after the near-complete destruction during the World War II. The colourful town houses of the Old Town can be admired by boat on the Motlawa River or enjoyed while strolling along the popular Long Street and Long Market.
While in Gdańsk, make sure you visit the 15th-century St Mary’s Church, the largest brick church in Europe, and you make a wish at the Neptune Fountain, the city’s patron. While in town, try the legendary local Goldwasser liqueur with 22 karat gold flakes!
Whether you reach Gdańsk by train or plane, Booking.com offers a variety of accommodation near the Lech Walesa Airport, the picturesque Old Town or the general city centre.
Gdansk is a jewel of Europe. Having achieved being the best best X-Mas market for 2025 is a testament of the people and the community. Rich in arts and culture with shows going on all the time. Food is next level great and extremely affordable

Gdansk is a fabulous city to visit. it is a lot cheaper to eat and drink out than the UK. There are so many lovely sites to see and visit. Transport is easy and costs next to nothing. Short train rides can access Sopot and Gdynia. Highly recommend!

Gdańsk was a perfect location for a mini break.
Gdańsk was a perfect location for a mini break. Lots to do & a very nice place, even just to walk about, Gdańsk is very walkable, easy to get around & all the tourist attractions/museums/ferris wheel are within walking distance of the main city. Stayed over Hogmanay & the fireworks displays down at the river were fantastic, lots of people lined up to watch with a great atmosphere. I never felt akward or out of place being on my own & felt very safe, even walking at night. Booked a boat trip Gdańsk-Westerplatte-Gdańsk which was meant to stop & let you off at Westerplatte & get a later boat back but this didn't happen, maybe because it was Winter time.

The entire tricity area of Gdansk at Christmass time is a city of lights, Fantastic LED sculptures were everywhere. Prices are cheap by north American standards and I did not have a disappointing meal during my stay . The weather was consistently cloudy with temperatures fluctuating between +1 and +10 but there were only three days of actual drizzle and when I consider that at home it was snowing with temperatures in the negative teens it was heavenly.

Wonderful city and love to come back again.
Wonderful city and love to come back again. Visited twice Jelitkowo park/beach and took lunch at favorite restaurant Bar Przysan just on the sea shore. We used Uber, Trum line 2/6 to visit opera, Galeria baltycka. Walking tour city center, Forum for shopping and specially food at the riverside restaurant.

Super! Splendid! Brilliant! Amazing 😘 My best birthday ever. Cosy, clean, well equipt apartment, very nicely done. Fantastic location, short walking distance to Gdansk main attractions. Sandy beach few minutes away (get a cab, it's cheap here). Or take a ship to Sopot to famous pier and sandy beaches. Don't contemplate any more - pack up and go Gdansk! Choose Downtown Apartments Magical River View of course 😉
The staff were friendly and helpful. We loved the location , at the edge of the old town and close to the tram line. The breakfast was excellent with a huge array of food to suit every taste. We went on the boat trip from the Hotel and it’s really cheap - 10 zloty each. It appears the life jackets on board are available on request. So that is good to know. I would love to stay here again.
We had a wonderful stay at the hotel. From the extremely pleasant and efficient reception staff to all amenities available it was the best accommodation we have stayed in Poland. The location is superb, just a few steps from the Main Street in Old Town. Very good breakfast with great choice.
Overall, a good hotel, clean and new. Good breakfast. we liked the location as walking distance to the sights of the old town. Overall small spa area, but it didn't prevent us from enjoying the free hour in the pool and sauna
Well located, next to old town, services and connection with the airport with public transport. The best, the amazing views. I would like to thank you the hotel team for this incredible experience.
