Called the Amber Capital of the World, Gdańsk is the major shipping seaport and the most beautiful city along the Polish Baltic coast. It has everything a city of this scale needs: a fascinating history, great architecture and a friendly atmosphere!
Also known as Danzig due to its complex past with periods of Polish, German and self-rule, the city is part of the Tricity urban area together with the port city of Gdynia and the popular spa town, Sopot. It’s also a birthplace of the world-famous Solidarity movement, which helped to bring down the Communist rule in Poland initiating the end of the Cold War era.
Its charming buildings were rebuilt in a historical style after the near-complete destruction during the World War II. The colourful town houses of the Old Town can be admired by boat on the Motlawa River or enjoyed while strolling along the popular Long Street and Long Market.
While in Gdańsk, make sure you visit the 15th-century St Mary’s Church, the largest brick church in Europe, and you make a wish at the Neptune Fountain, the city’s patron. While in town, try the legendary local Goldwasser liqueur with 22 karat gold flakes!
Whether you reach Gdańsk by train or plane, Booking.com offers a variety of accommodation near the Lech Walesa Airport, the picturesque Old Town or the general city centre.
Having been to Gdańsk twice now, we are definitely big fans!
Having been to Gdańsk twice now, we are definitely big fans! The city itself is a great mix of traditional buildings and modern additions, and has so much history to discover. The Christmas Market is magical in December, and the streets are lined with festively decorated restaurants and shops offering a wide range of cuisines for every taste. Our favourites from out trip were the quaint KAISER Patisserie and Riverside Dym i Ogień, both on the waterfront. Dickery is a wonderful bakery for those who are feeling more adventurous, and the Amber Sky Ferris Wheel is such a magical experience at night which we highly recommend! The Museum of the Second World War is a also a must-see for any history lovers! We walked everywhere while in the city, and there's a quick and (relatively) easy train journey from the airport to Gdańsk with one change - once you figure out that the train boards have a side for arrivals and a sign for departures it's much less confusing! Overall Gdańsk is a great romantic city stay with so much to offer!

Gdańsk was a perfect location for a mini break.
Gdańsk was a perfect location for a mini break. Lots to do & a very nice place, even just to walk about, Gdańsk is very walkable, easy to get around & all the tourist attractions/museums/ferris wheel are within walking distance of the main city. Stayed over Hogmanay & the fireworks displays down at the river were fantastic, lots of people lined up to watch with a great atmosphere. I never felt akward or out of place being on my own & felt very safe, even walking at night. Booked a boat trip Gdańsk-Westerplatte-Gdańsk which was meant to stop & let you off at Westerplatte & get a later boat back but this didn't happen, maybe because it was Winter time.

The entire tricity area of Gdansk at Christmass time is a city of lights, Fantastic LED sculptures were everywhere. Prices are cheap by north American standards and I did not have a disappointing meal during my stay . The weather was consistently cloudy with temperatures fluctuating between +1 and +10 but there were only three days of actual drizzle and when I consider that at home it was snowing with temperatures in the negative teens it was heavenly.

Excellent !!!
Stayed in apartment which was literally around corner of hotel
Apartment beautiful, comfortable and very well appointed. Had everything you would need. Espresso coffee machine.
Bed was king-size and very comfortable
Sofa bed extremely comfortable.
Loads space for 3 people and tastefully decorated.
So central and 2 min walk to old town.
Pool and steam room etc spotless and great to use after day sight seeing .
Highly recommend this hotel
I'd stay again and will certainly recommend apartments/ hotel to friends.
The room was spacious, quiet and comfortable. Easy to get to with public transport. There are cafes, a few restaurants and convenience stores nearby. It's about 15 min walk to Gdańsk Old Town. The breakfasts in the hotel next door are amazing - tasty, with lots of choice and varied on a day to day basis. The swimming pool gets a bit crowded, but still is nice to go to, especially if travelling with children.
The most central location of Gdansk, right in the middle of the old town. All sights, restaurants, supermarket, etc. in front of the door. I think this was one of the best beds I have ever slept in. The room was big and very modern. Everything was perfect, I would always choose this hotel again.
Spacious , bright apartament . Perfect location , close to the main station , shopping mall and The Old Town. The staff are very helpful and attentive.
Loved the hotel quality of linen duvet covers!
Great, super clean flat. We stayed in the 2 bedroom flat, very spacious. 15 minutes walk to the center and 10 minutes to the shipyard. The free parking is a big plus. Felt like 5 stars hotel.
