Location was excellent; we came in mid-October and had the entire beach to ourselves whilst the weather was still warm, it was a little surreal to have an entire town with restaurants and the beach open just for us; a hidden gem! Coming straight in from the sea to the hotel's warm sauna and baths was a real treat as well

Located just 19 km from Phoenix Plaza, Awara Onsen Matuya Sen Sen features accommodation in Awara with access to an open-air bath, a garden, as well as a lift. We were delighted with our visit. The food was excellent and the staff very friendly. It was one of three onsens we visited, and I must say it was as good as the others, which were more expensive. They were also very good about meeting us at the station with their limo bus. Very enjoyable.

Grandia Housen features a wellness area and a public bath and air-conditioned guest accommodation in Awara, 18 km from Phoenix Plaza, 19 km from Fukui International Activities Plaza and 26 km from... Japan hospitality at its best. Food was good. Lounge was good. Food was good. Nothing to complain. Only thing if they have coin laundry will do wonders for me.

Tsuruga Sazanami Resort Chobei, a property with free bikes and a garden, is situated in Tsuruga, 42 km from Obama Station, 46 km from Gotanjo-ji Temple, as well as 48 km from Sundome Fukui. beautiful total waterfront location , go look for sea glass and ceramics, with incredible breakfast and luxury room especially the bath.

21 km from Phoenix Plaza in Awara, Ooedo Onsen Monogatari Premium Seiunkaku features accommodation with access to a hot spring bath, public bath and open-air bath. The breakfast and dinner were buffet-style with a great variety. The Onsen was amazing.

Set just 20 km from Phoenix Plaza, Awara Grand Hotel features accommodation in Awara with access to a spa and wellness centre, an open-air bath, as well as a 24-hour front desk. As I didn't eat at the hotel, I cannot make any judgment about the food quality, but for me the access to several top onsen in the hotel, beside the several public ones in the town made my stay at the hotel very pleasant. One of them is even open all night long until 10AM. My traditional bedroom was also a strong point. At some point after I checked in, someone came and prepared my bed. The staff was very nice, and despite their limited English, made its utmost to serve me. The hotel is located within 5 minutes from a bus station, close to Awaraonsen and from which you can board a bus to Eihei-ji temple or Tojimbo in the other direction. If you wish to visit both places, you can buy a two day pass for this bus line.
