The location is truly magical. Kinosaki exceeded our expectations and Nishimuraya only added to our overall experience. The hotel is beautiful, peaceful, and feels authentic to Japan. The rooms are spacious and tatami beds are comfortable. Our window faced the forest where we could see the fog rolling through the trees like a fairytale. The staff go above and beyond to provide exceptional customer service in every way possible. We had dinner at the hotel one night and everything we ate (8 courses) was phenomenal. The private onsen followed by massages was 100% worth it. We absolutely plan to return to this hidden gem.

The ryokan was exceptionally clean and the staff was amazingly helpful. There was a number of staff who spoke english fluently. They have their own microbrewery and you can have beer delivered to your room until 10 (if that’s your thing). The room was beautiful and clear instructions were provided for the onsens, yukata, and ryokan. While the listing says the bath for Yamamatoya is open until 12AM, we were told we could go in all night. The bath here at the ryokan was super nice and private, and had both an indoor and outdoor section.

Super friendly staff. I really liked that we were was a little bit outside of the main tourist streets in Kinosaki. It felt a lot more peaceful than if it had been right in the middle of everything. There's a shuttle to the main streets, or you can just walk. There was a mix of Japanese and western tourists here. The onsen and courtyard were pleasant. There is a lot to do in the area, we had a great time at Izushi castle town and the Genbudo park/museum. Food was great.

very good value! authentic ryokan experience for a relatively cheap buck:)) came with a day pass which let us use all the onsens while we were there🤍 lady working there doesnt speak a lot of English but this never posed a problem as she was very accomodating and sweet. room was clean, beds were tidy and comfy. room came with yukatas that you can wear while doing ur onsen-hopping🤍🤍 wooden shoes (getas) are also available for free:)) air conditioning was also really nice, we went there during summer
For our first time in a ryokan it was a great surprise and experience. The room was the good size for 4 people and we enjoyed the balcony with the view to the town's main street and the river. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and takes great care to explain the different activities to do in the ryokan and in the town. We had an amazing time using our yukatas and hopping from one onsen to another, and we also very happy with the meals that were prepared at the ryokan - the dinner was definitely the best we had in all our stay.
Beautiful Ryokan style hotel. Lovely room and a very hot private bath. Had an amazing time in Kinosaki Onsen. Everything is on the main street really and they provide you with yukata and sandals to go out in. Byo tabi socks!
State of the art hospitality and professional service from the staff! The traditional Japanese ryokan style room was truly stunning and a pleasure to experience. Yukata set is also provided by the hotel which can be used while exploring the Onsen Town.
The Best Ryokan I have ever been !
Very well located.
The staff is super friendly, the "room book" in english is very well done and personnal.
The 3 onsen at floor 1 are so great !
The futon was really confortable, especialy the comfy blanket !
10/10 for the whole stay !
Wonderful Ryokan experience in Kinosaki Onsen. The Japanese breakfasts and suppers were both awesome. The Ryokan provides yukatas in which you can walk around town to the onsens - really great!
The rental yukatas and hantens were the most stylish and unique compared to what guests at other ryokans were wearing.
Location is excellent, close to train station and main street and onsens.
Staff gave us an onsen pass for the 7 onsens in town. We also got a private booking at the bath in house. Staff provided an orientation to town and also provided excellent hospitality, including amazing food service.
Rooms were traditional and a little old but comfortable and the bathroom had a Toto.
Lovely authentic ryokan in hot spring town. The owner is very welcoming and hospitable. The ryokan is comfortable for a big family and the private onsen is great. Perfectly located in the centre of town to walk to all the public onsens with one being next door. Meals were huge and well prepared. Staff very friendly and helpful, especially for helping with yakata and kimono dressing. A must place to visit, we will definitely be coming back here to stay again.
The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and spoke good English. Dinner and breakfast was served in our room and each item described to us as they were laid out. Our futons were laid out and packed away by staff. The whole ryokan was kept immaculate and we heard no noise at all. Geta, yukata, umbrellas and baskets were provided for going to and from onsens. An onsen pass was also provided from check in to 3pm on the day of check out. We were allowed to keep our towels until this point and our luggage was held after check out.
It’s a stunning traditional style Ryokan with tatami floors in the bedrooms. Having the option to have a bed or a futon is nice, although I think a futon is actually comfier! Only 2 minutes from the train station and a stones throw from great coffee shops, restaurants and supermarkets. They allow you to book the private onsen for just under an hour, which allows mixed sex couples to enjoy it together, unlike the public onsens.
