Amazing food in a really nice family Ryokan.
The onsen water was pure silk 🤩, the best onsen water we ever had, and the bath was really cute with a view over the river (that you access through a cool tunnel under the road, James Bond style).

It sits right on the harbor at Kii Tanabe. Spectacular sunsets and sunrises. Great onsen waters. Hotel chefs accommodated my need to be gluten free perfectly despite how difficult it is with Japanese food. That kindness will always be appreciated.
Great staff!

Room was spacious and clean. The hot spring in the balcony was fantastic - watching the sunset while sitting in the hot spring!
Dinner was great too! I didn’t expect they serve lobster sashimi! Everything was fresh and delicious!
I will definitely come back to this hotel !
Experience culture authentically with a stay at these traditional Japanese-style accommodations. Sleep on the floor (on a futon roll) in a room furnished with tatami flooring and sliding doors. Guests can often expect access to a communal bath, plus a complimentary Japanese garment called a yukata.
Traditional style guest house with rooms with screen walls, tatami mats and futons.
Two guest rooms at the front of the building, meaning it was a little noisy at night as right on the access road/ pathway.
Close to the train station and beach area. Nice restaurants in the local area, we had an excellent meal.
Reasonable price.
Shared lounge, kitchen area and bathroom, all in good working order and clean.
The staff was so nice and made us feel welcome.
The room was okay and the futons were good.
We really enjoyed the onsens and the food was really delicious.
Simple guest house with traditional tatami and futon rooms. The room was clean, well sized and cosy, with the location very close to Kii-Tanabe station and the izakayas. The owner was great and so helpful and friendly.
The room was comfortable, warm and well sized. It was a traditional Japanese room with sliding doors, tatami floors and a futon bed.
The host, Ike, and his wife prepared the most amazing dinner for us and kindly catered to me being vegetarian. The next day I also had a tasty breakfast and bento box lunch prepared for me which set me up well for my hike.
The host was polite and helpful. It was enjoyable having a communal dinner with the other guests and made for a lovely atmosphere.
Delightful hosts, lovely space. Comfy futon beds on tatami mat floors. Shared bathroom. Only one possible set of neighbours in the adjacent room. (Earplugs are available for purchase if needed.) We loved the chiffon cakes for breakfast. Highly recommend.
Loved the traditional tatami mats and futon on the floor with beautiful lantern lights in the room, and then a seperate area with a couch and kitchenette - all in the cutest little village with an amazing view! Simon was so helpful with information about the Kumano Kodo. He helped me figure out a new plan for my hike the next day to work around the weather. He picked me up from Tanabe and dropped me at the trailhead the next morning.
River view, spacious room, well equipped. the property has own indoor hot springs as well as access to outdoor natural onsen. It's amazing experience to bath in one of those. Beuatiful natural surroundings. Property has parking. There was just one restaurant in village, but the dinners and breakfast can be also prepared by property hosts. We had dinner and we got huge portions and everything was delishious, also vegan friendly. the property is only 10-15mins drive from Honguncho Hongu (with more restaurants and supermarket)
It was my fors stay in traditional Japanese ryokan and it was good. The staff was very pleasant and kind. They managed to prepare breakfast for us in the early morning. Everything was smooth and nice. There is also public onsen right near hotel. Moreover, you can even dig your own onsen near the river
Dinner and breakfast was superb. Loved the old style room with the tatami mats, futon , river view/sounds and japanese style table and chairs. Tattoo friendly onsen in this place and bonus onsen by the river. Staff friendly, helpful and informative. Wi fi reception excellent!
Very nice owner. Good location close to the bus stop. Genuine Japanese experience of staying in Ryokan, among others with sleeping on the tatami. Digging own onsen at a river side is amazing. Food needs to ordered earlier than on arrival.
