If I would have to sum up my stay in one word it will be Perfection. I have been to a lot of ryokans, and this is one of the bests, if not the best.
The moment you first enter the ryokan, and take off your shoes, you are greeted by the amazing staff with tea and local handmade treat, before being lead to your suite. The suite itself is beautifully decorated, spacious and comes with amazing view of lake Suwa from both the common area and the private onsen.
Both dinner and breakfast, which are made from seasonal and local ingredients and change daily, were delicious and an amazing experience. The staff were kind to make onigiri, rice balls, from the dinner's leftover rice and deliver them to the suite.
At night the first floor tea room becomes a bar serving amazing local sake, and other drinks, along with food.
The roof mixed bath was one of the stay highlights, the amazing view of lake Suwa and the surrounding towns as the sun set, painting everything in orange and purple, and then when it became dark and all the lights were turned on was beautiful. The sunrise also was worth waking up for.
Boasting large hot spring baths and great Suwa Lake views, Kamisuwa Onsen Shinyu provides Japanese-style guestrooms with a modern touch in a relaxing ambience.
Boasting views of Suwa Lake, outdoor hot-spring baths and 1 restaurants, Hananoi Hotel is 7 minutes from JR Kamisuwa Train Station on the free shuttle (reservation required).

Experience culture authentically with a stay at this traditional Japanese-style accommodation. Sleep on the floor (on a futon roll) in a room furnished with tatami flooring and sliding doors. Guests can often expect access to a communal bath plus a complimentary Japanese garment called a yukata.
Good dinner; nice onsen/rotemburo baths. Good buffet breakfast, lots of choice. Room facilities all good Inc WiFi, plenty usb sockets, fridge. Friendly service.
Beautiful lake side location, big car park, nice rooms with tatami floor, very helpful and friendly staff, good facilities within a spacious room, fabulous kaiseki dinner in your own private room in the restaurant.
The staff were polite and able to speak some English. The hotel is clean and the rooms are comfortable. The meals were delicious and beautifully served. The onsen was clean and comfortable.
A very nice ryokan, serving traditional japanese brrakfast and dinner. You have your private parlour in the restaurant, where you are served.
The rooms are traditional, you sleep in the futon beds, which the staff makes for you. The rooms with lake view are just amazing.
Great ryokan room with nice furniture, onsen is working almost all day and night, traditional breakfast is in a private room, staff is very welcoming, it is just bt the lake
Stunning location with Lake Suwa just in front of you. Rooms are spacious, Japanese style but we had western beds. Lovely public onsen, we had an amazing dinner and breakfast (highly recommended). We got a free shuttle transfer from Kamisuwa station, the staff are very nice and helpful. There is also a cute souvenir store inside where you can buy a lot of local specialties
