Great little Ryokan! Super well situated, very foreigner-friendly. Classic Ryokan feel (with lovely osen space!), with the ease & price point of a motel.
Clean, safe, and very accommodating staff (we sent our luggage in advance via the wonderful Yamato and they took care of everything on their end), easy to get to via local trains, and of course very close to Senso-Ji and other attractions.
Located in a quiet area in central Tokyo, Hotel Edoya features a public hot bath, a terrace and spacious Japanese-style rooms. The hotel features a restaurant, free WiFi at the lobby and paid parking....

The staff speaks very good English and helped arrange taxi to airport. It also has a "hot bath". The facilities are traditional and the room is spacious.
Less than half a mile from JR Ikebukuro Train Station, the completely non-smoking Kimi Ryokan offers traditional Japanese rooms with tatami (woven-straw) floors and futon beds.

LOVED this place, one of my favorite places I stayed in a month long trip to Japan! The room was fantastic, and even had a lovely view of a little rooftop garden right outside my window. The location was fantastic, with everything you could need nearby, including late night food options. Lots of really authentic family owned businesses in the neighborhood, and a great combination of old/historical spots with quick access by bus or train to more modern spots like the Skytree. Really great for anyone who loves Showa era retro vibes- make sure to check out Silk Road coffee and Kissaten Cisz for great old school authentic coffee and small bites.
The bed was SO comfortable, probably the best bed I've ever had in Japan. It was huge, with comfortable pillows and a soft mattress. The room was small but perfect for one person, maybe 2 with limited luggage. Beautiful views out of 2 large windows made the room feel more spacious.
Spotlessly clean, great A/C and heat control, and really kind staff. I didn't use the public baths but they looked great and the shared bathrooms were very clean. Nice little kitchenette area with free coffee, tea, hot water, and snacks in the lobby. Absolutely no complaints!

Tradional, basic, exactly as described. Helps to know elementary Japanese etiquette, but family owners are extremely kind, helpful and understanding.
Just 656 feet from Kappabashi-dori Street, the entirely nonsmoking Asakusa Ryokan Toukaisou provides air-conditioned rooms with free Wi-Fi, an LCD TV and a private bath.

Best thing about this property is the staff member/owner. Kind enough to help with my mistakes and in general, very patient. You can expect this to be an excellent choice for your first trip on a budget 👍
Experience culture authentically with a stay at these traditional Japanese-style accommodations. Sleep on the floor (on a futon roll) in a room furnished with tatami flooring and sliding doors. Guests can often expect access to a communal bath, plus a complimentary Japanese garment called a yukata.
Like other hotels in Japan they provided a room clean-up only when requested, or every 3 days. However, each day they would at least leave a bag holding a set of fresh towels, fresh yukutas, coffee, etc. That was much appreciated! Also, the front-desk staff were always so very courteous and professional. The yukatas and slippers are a nice touch!
Very good railway connections, 3 minutes from the hotel; room well equipped with a fridge, water cooker, large working table and Yukata. Excellent bed with firm mattresses and pillows – as doctors recommend. A little good restaurant with a Chinese breakfast buffet, lunch and dinner for very well reasonable prices. In the commons are washing and ice machines as well as a micro wave.
