The Japanese landlady was very kind and patient. Travelled with my family and two of my kids got the stomach bug and she was constantly asking how they were doing. She even prepared the bath so they can relax, they felt much better after that. She even made me use her washing machine when I asked her where the nearest laundrymat was. The traditional family room was large and very comfortable. There were rainy days and we just stayed in and it was so nice and comfortable. Location was convenient as very close to the train, a great ramen restaurant, convenient stores and Izakayas. :)

Not enough hot foods.
The non-English speaking staff were very helpful and accommodating with me and my translation app.
The paths throughout the whole island were for the most part paved. Excellent views of wildlife, foliage, and slow walks through small villages.
The beach was good for combing.

It was unique but not comfortable. Bathrooms were on another floor and you had to use them at certain times. Toilets were down the hall. It was a different experience and I would do it again just for the uniqueness. Probably would not stay more than one night. The location wasn’t great either.
