Otaru Geihinkan, hotel in Otaru

Located right at Oishoro Bay, Otaru Geihinkan offers rooms with sea views. Free WiFi access in all areas and free parking is available. The hotel is a 15-minute drive from Tenguyama Ski Resort.

We had an excellent stay at Otaru Geihinkan with our family. The room is very spacious and the staff is very helpful. The ocean facing view is breath-taking and each room has its own balcony where you can watch sun-raise and sunset with coffee! The hotel is about 15 mins drive from Otaru canal, so easy if you are looking for places to eat. Several rooms (we came with five other families) have a full kitchen setup where you can buy food from nearby supermarket and cook there, something that we wish we know earlier! Overall, we will certainly come back next time if we are visiting Otaru again!

Suizantei Club Jozankei-Adults Only, hotel in Otaru

Offering spacious rooms with tatami (woven-straw) flooring, Western beds and free wired internet, Club Jozankei is 3.1 mi from Lake Sapporo.

Everything was perfect, even by Japan standards. Staff was kind and receptive. Both supper and breakfast were the highest quality and presentation, with the staff very helpful and talkative. The grounds and building are beautiful, with the interior itself a standout. I loved the design and ambience, from the baths to the hallways to the reception to the bar to the dining room. This is a standout ryokan, the best of the best. And the best part? Mr. Narita, the bartender! He made our experience so warm, it will always be a cherished memory. Good man!

Jozankei Onsen Yurakusoan, hotel in Otaru

Jozankei Onsen Yurakusoan features a spa center and free private parking, and is within 17 miles of Sapporo Station and 20 miles of Shin-Sapporo Station.

Attention to detail from the design of onsen to the adjustable bedside table ( very soft to reading strength). Great service. Refined dinner and breakfast sets. The public onsen and private ones all have views. Public bath has various types of temperature and cold plunge which I loved. There is also a hinoki soaking tub w view in the room. Overall the ryokan married traditional Japanese style with western comforts so seamlessly. We really enjoyed our experience.

The on suite onsen was amazing! We really enjoyed the time there The staffs were amazing too, always bowing and greeting when we arrive at the hotel In particular (did not take note of his name), there was one staffs who went the extra mile to help us set up the futon after we called for help in the middle of the night 😰 We were very thankful!

I realised after I arrived here that I had booked the wrong number of people (2 instead of 3) but this was quickly resolved by the very friendly and helpful owner moving us to another room where we were able to sleep using futon on tatami mats. This was a treat we hadn't expected. This also gave us more space to spread out. The facilities are basic but modern and clean.

Great location for tourist spots and restaurants. You can hear some local trains sometimes rattling by. Room had tatami mats, comfy futons and a nice view of the garden. The bathroom though small is well equipped, and there is also a large Japanese bathing area.

The place was really clean, well-maintained and value for its price. Also, the futon beds on the tatami floor was really comfortable. Checking in and out was easy and quick with the friendly owner of Plum House who speaks Chinese and Japanese. He helped us with our luggages though there was no elevator, which was really nice of him. There were common basic facilities such as a fridge, dining tables and more. Don't hesitate to book a stay at Plum House, a pity we only stayed a night!

Perfect location in front of the railway station: Otaru is so small that you can get there by train in the morning, drop your luggage in the hotel, visit the city (canals are overrated, but Mt. Tengu is underrated), and come back in time to put on your yukata and go for an onsen first, and then free noodles.
