Staff were super accommodating and very friendly. Made the whole process or checking in and out super easy. Also allowed us to keep our luggage there before check-in.

- The interior was really cozy and gorgeous. I loved the lounge which was well equipped with tea, coffee beans, a tatami room with kotatsus, and plenty of seating.
- The baths were great value, especially the outdoor one. Got lucky enough to get the outdoor bath to myself in the morning!
- Capsules, washroom and hotel were very clean.
- I've had some bad experiences with noisy guests at capsule/dorm hotels, but the guests all generally followed the rules and it was quiet and night!
- Lots of solo travellers! Met another girl who I ended up travelling around with :)

The man working the ryokan was so nice and accommodating! All facilities were clean and the onsen is nice because it is basically private. There is tea in the room and coffee in the mornings! The beds are also so comfortable.

My partner and I loved the traditional dinner and breakfast that was served in our rooms, we weren’t expecting it and the woman who brought it to us was so sweet. We loved both the public and private onsen, and appreciated the women only hours. This was such a special experience and one of the highlights of our trip.
Experience culture authentically with a stay at these traditional Japanese-style accommodations. Sleep on the floor (on a futon roll) in a room furnished with tatami flooring and sliding doors. Guests can often expect access to a communal bath, plus a complimentary Japanese garment called a yukata.
Nice cosy traditional Japanese room. Soft comfortable tatami. Chong who is managing the ryokan is friendly. He assisted us to have our luggage sent to Tokyo.
Best hotel on our 4 weeks trip! Nice reception by English speaking staff, large room. Everything was new, highest quality and super clean. Sleeping on futons was a nice experience, but 2 nights was enough for me, not being used to it. The hotel is in walking distance to Odawara station, the castle (which you can see from the room) and the beach.
Highly recommended!
We were a family with 4 adults and a child that stayed here and the apartment was spacious enough. It was well equipped and even had mobile chargers. The host answered our questions promptly and was genuinely helpful regarding our baggage arriving by post. The futon mattresses here were much more comfortable than some of the other places we stayed in Japan. Hayakawa station that has connections to Odawara was a short walk from here.
Such an amazing stay, definitely our favorite of the trip. Highly recommend staying in a traditional ryokan for the experience when in Japan. Design enthusiasts will love the aesthetics of this place, and the owner greets you and checks you in (he's a New York City fashion school graduate!). They give complimentary souvenir hand towels as well as traditional robes - so cool. And a friendly house cat on premises too.
Although the location seemed a little difficult the hotel staff were so kind to send the evening before the way to find the hotel. If you follow it it is vert easy. The location was the best, on top of a shopping mall , connected to the train station. And 10 minutes from the beautiful Odawara tower.
The hotel itself is really great, a big room with a fantastic shower very clean and a really nice ONSEN.
Top location, top facilities and top staff! Apartment is very nicely renovated, clean, well equipped and spacious. We were not used to futon beds but we knew that we would get that before we booked. Takes practicing :) Staff was super friendly and polite and explained the usage of the facilities to us. Odawara castle is in sight, bathed in sunrise. We think that the apartment is nicer than the ryokan in Hakone!
Such a charming property to experience living in a real and old Japanese house and sleeping on futons. The communal toilets and baths (you have to book bath timings for your room) were not as inconvenient as expected, and it was an interesting experience. If travel is all about new experiences, Ryokan Plum is a great choice! A short 10-min walk from Odawara Station, where there are buses and trains to Hakone.
Gorokichi the mascot cat, codes to get in the hotel and room, provided yukata and slippers are very nice, ryokan prioritizes local goods (tea, coffee, yukata are all locally made), access to terrace, rooms are luxury quality, powerful AC, clean floors, clean rooms, large trash disposal area in lobby, shared kitchenette with dishes and microwave provided, mini fridge, western bed available
I loved the little cat and the fact this is a 100 year old ryokan. very beautiful place, decorated with style. I could even choose the color of my Yukata.
