Everything was fantastic. The ladies that greeted us were so adorable, the room vas spacious and very clean. We could choose the color of yukata and we could go to town and public onsens in it, also had baskets for towels.
Breakfast is another experience in privet room that has a view on small garden. And charming older lady serves breakfast with many delicious thing in small plates.
location for us vas perfect, ryokan is close to the Otaki no yu onsen, which we loved the most, and to Yubatake is 13 minutes walk.
Built in 1913, the Kusatsu Hotel exhibits the architectural style of the Japanese Taisho Era.

Fabulous Hotel. Was the most traditional feel of the hotels we visited. Set menu breakfast was typically Japanese and staff were so good to us. The room was massive with some lovely touches, paper interior windows, Japanese style flooring. The Onsen was fabulous and everything in the town was short walking distance.

This was the best place I stayed in Japan across all seven of my trips. It’s just a few minutes from the bus terminal and a five-minute walk to the main hot spring. They offered a lovely welcome tea & dessert upon arrival and a delicious Japanese-style breakfast. The rooms are larger than most in Japan, very clean, and well-equipped. There are four private onsen baths on the ground floor available 24 hours. The staff are welcoming, helpful, and polite. Highly recommended if you're visiting this area—I would gladly return for a longer stay to enjoy my favorite onsen bath.

Both dinner and breakfast were very good, they even made some changes for me as I do not eat fish and have some food allergies. Room was nice and onsen was great as well. You can also book a private onsen, which we enjoyed to have mixed bath. Good location. Very professional and friendly staff. A bit retro vibe, but it suits that place very nicely.
Experience culture authentically with a stay at this traditional Japanese-style accommodation. Sleep on the floor (on a futon roll) in a room furnished with tatami flooring and sliding doors. Guests can often expect access to a communal bath plus a complimentary Japanese garment called a yukata.
The staff were super friendly and helpful. They speak fluent Chinese (I think the owner might be Chinese) Parking onsite and rooms were very large.
Recommended some good site seeing options
Breakfast service was very good. When we stayed I think we were the only ones on some of the days so got table service rather than the buffet.
The view from the window was really good.
It is really cheap :D
I didn't use the onsen but my partner did and he really enjoyed it. Said it was clean and well maintained.
We’ve stayed at many ryokan since living in Japan for two years and this was one of our favorites! It’s a pretty property run by the 15th generation owner. We had a very large room and a private dining room but the ryokan was not very large, so it didn’t feel crowded. The meals are beautiful and healthier than other ryokan as they serve The freshest vegetables from nearby farms and cook it in a “modern furnace”. They also include all you can drink sake, beer and wine with dinner! The onsen were also wonderful.
The location: forest at the base of the volcano Mt Asama , remote , and cool. if you're into golfing this is the place for you. Tennis courts and hiking trails are available as well. The onsen and jakuzzi were great.
It's next to a golf course but had a relaxed vibe.
The room was very comfortable and I liked the view.
The onsen was great, particularly the aerated bath and the rotemburo with views of Mt Asama.
Breakfast was a buffet, which I prefer as I have dietary restrictions.
