1) We had the largest room (Family Room - 2 bedrooms with toilet). It was soo spacious and comfortable!
2) Staff were super accommodating. We were allowed to leave our luggage before check in so we could explore the city. Also very child-friendly - they were so kind to our two children (2.5 years and 6 months old). We were able to park our pram by the entrance (and even by the eating area) and they have two baby chairs for dining.
3) Its a comfortable walking distance between the major attractions (shopping streets, Aeon, art gallery, castle).
4) Traditional morning breakfast was delicious. They also have a rock garden and common area which was really nice and chill.
Guests at Fukashiso can enjoy relaxing in the spacious public/private baths and request for massage services.

Delightful ryokan. Staff were very kind and friendly. It has public onsen (separate for men and women) and a private family onsen. Room was comfortable and it was nice to arrive and have green tea ready in our room. Food was delicious - one of us is pescetarian and the other vegetarian (we notified Fukashiso in advance) and the dinner was extremely good. We enjoyed the sake tasting option.
There is a shuttle from the train station to the ryokan in the afternoon (I think 3:30 and 5:30) and from the ryokan to the station in the morning (9am and 10am). But you can also take the local bus (takes about 20 mins).
Set within less than 1 km of Matsumoto Station and 4.3 km of The Japan Ukiyo-e Museum, Nunoya Ryokan offers rooms with air conditioning and a private bathroom in Matsumoto.

The 100 year old building, interior and exterior is beautiful and the facilities are well maintained. Breakfast in the downstairs restaurant is fantastic and well priced.

Loved the whole concept of the Ryokan. The private baths was exquisite, as well as the dinner ( highly recommend f- just an amazing experience of Japanese cuisine) . The property is located 15 min by taxi or 25 min by bus. (Get a taxi - approx cost is 3,500 yen or the bus from Matsumoto station to Yuzaka —-leave forms Platform 23..its bus number 30 or 31) ..We didnt want to leave the property. Lots to explore in the local neighbour. Must visit the Zen temple Buddhist temple that is nearby.

I absolutely loved the private outdoor bath inside the room. It was wonderful to soak on your terrace. Rooms were very spacious and comfortable. The dining experience was amazing. Each group of guests had a private space for dining. The food was absolutely incredible. We had eight-course dinner in a Japanese style. There was also a very convenient parking. The staff was incredible, very hospitable. The service was very personable.

Extremely friendly and helpful host family! They gave so many great recommendations for the area. The property was spotless, and the onsen was available to book for private use for 30mins, which was great. Free use of bikes and umbrellas was much appreciated during our stay. Free parking on site also, which was hard to find in the area at other accommodations.

Nice hotel and very clean and tidy and nice style, as some wrote a bit older but still very nice. The private onsen is renovated and was very nice aswell as the public onsen. The service was very nice and you could choose between two breakfasts and if this would be sent to your room or be eaten in the dining area. Prebookable free shuttle to the train station, which was very convenient to use. The hotel is in the outskirts of Matsumoto and just next to a forest and small mountain for those who like to take a run or hike there. Cute shop and bakery located nearby as some nice restaurants.
Experience culture authentically with a stay at this traditional Japanese-style accommodation. Sleep on the floor (on a futon roll) in a room furnished with tatami flooring and sliding doors. Guests can often expect access to a communal bath plus a complimentary Japanese garment called a yukata.

Location was close to the castle. It was very clean and the rooms were comfortable for sleeping with futons and tatami mats. The bathrooms were shared but kept very clean too. The host communicated very often and helped us to check in a little earlier than expected.
A beautiful hotel, love the tatami mats, a wonderful onsen on the top floor with views, amazing breakfast with fresh fruit and tempura. A hike at kamikochi is worth the trip via bus train, and you can organise it at the train station. We loved Pizza Verde for a meal too, small place, you might have to book
Convenient location near the train station (10min by foot), and walkable distance to Mastumoto Castle. Comfortable hotel with a traditional feel (tatami everywhere, guests are asked to remove their shoes upon entering, no shoes in any part of the hotel, convenient lockers for shoes are offered in the lobby). Nice onsen, big although quite busy as it's a big hotel.
This was the most wonderful place we stayed in our month in Japan. Three nights of keiseki dinners, each better than the last. We had a huge comfy tatami room, the onsen were fab, the staff were incredibly kind, dropping us into town each day and collecting us in the afternoon, making it easy to enjoy marvellous Matsumoto. Totally recommend it to anyone who wants a homely feeling ryokan with top end food.
Onsen Yado Misuzuso is good value to stay in the mountains near Kamikochi. We stayed in a beautiful tatami room with yukatas provided to wear to the baths. The baths at this onsen smell really strongly of sulfur, be warned. There’s a lovely tiny restaurant Iodori located right next door so we could just walk over for dinner. The staff were really kind.
It‘s a really authentic Onsen-experience. We were the only non-Japanese at this place. Our room was a traditional room with tatami-mattresses. In the family room 3 slept on futons, 2 in beds. It‘s half-board. In the evening we had a 10 course menu in a private room. Although we had an English menu we were overwhelmed the first time with how to eat what and what needs to be cooked and what not
Beautiful ryokan with everything you need: well equipped rooms, very helpful staff, nice onsens, excellent and rich breakfest, beautiful view from the room,, shop. You can even find your own cloth "yukata" in the wardrobe.
Ryokan style with a modern twist. You have to take your shoes off when you enter the hotel which was cool and surprising as all the floors were tatami-matted. free onsen. nice comfy pajamas. professional staff and free drinks.
Had a great stay here and truly enjoyed the whole Ryokan experience. Staff was extremely hospitable. Thee traditional room and futons were comfy (though the duvet was a bit warm). The onsen was perfect and the dinner an breakfast were truly Japanese and all very good. Even though there are some language barriers, they did their utmost best to explain things, where needed with help from a translation app.
Breakfast was delicious and varied. The room and facilities were clean, it helps that the building is brand new. Location was close to Matsumoto Station and the bus terminal to Kamikochi. And the onsen was a highlight - located at the top floor and you could enjoy the view of the city. The ambience was like a modern Japanese inn with tatami floors for the whole building. I would stay here again!
