The property is as described and well-cared for. I purchased breakfast and dinner and only wish I were a big eater. The preparation was excellent and reflective of place.
Boasting a spacious garden overlooking the Kumano-Nada Sea and the gentle mountains along the coast, Yado Kayuu features hot-spring baths, a summertime outdoor pool, tennis courts and Japanese rooms...
Experience culture authentically with a stay at these traditional Japanese-style accommodations. Sleep on the floor (on a futon roll) in a room furnished with tatami flooring and sliding doors. Guests can often expect access to a communal bath, plus a complimentary Japanese garment called a yukata.
The manager is wonderfully friendly. We love the Japanese traditional tatami style house. The place is clean, everything that the travelers needs and you will get it in this house.
A laid-back and quiet place with everything we needed. The room was comfortable with nice thick futons and everything was very clean. No meals provided at Fukurou but there was a microwave available, and a kettle provided in the room. A taxi from Kushimoto station cost 2000 yen. There's a bus service but a limited timetable, so make sure to check the times. We enjoyed being out in the backblocks and walking into Kushimoto. We did a snorkelling tour with ARK diving, which was excellent.
This ground floor house is in a very quiet area next door to a Shrine about 12 mins walk south of Shirahama station on flat roads.
The house is lovely - staying here is a beautiful way to experience modern Japanese living.
Large bedroom for two people with comfortable futon beds. Living room plus lounge room and large kitchen. Laundry and bathroom are down one end and very private.
The owner is a lovely man who was happy to pick us up upon arrival and show us around the house.
They have various facilities including karaoke rooms and ping pong tables, though some have additional charges but not too expensive. The onsen is good as well, they have an outdoor onsen with a great view.
I spent a night here as solo traveller. If you don't have a car, plan well in advance because buses don't run often from the JR Station.
My single room was huge and perfectly equipped, all spaces are very clean. It was a very relaxing stay, probably the most comfortable futon I've slept on ;) You get a set time for bathing and there is no kitchen.
very scenic location, room size was good, breakfast wss very good with local selections, dinner was good value for the money, onsen was great
