Interesting place, very traditional, with a great garden and definitely providing a very unique experience.
Common shower experience was also very good, very unique with the Onsen.

We had an issue with the initial booking when we arrived, but the staff came to an amicable and very satisfactory solution. The food was amazing and our room overlooked the garden of the inn. The location was very close to one of the main temple complexes and a bus stop that takes you to and from the cable car.
We attended the morning religious service at 6.30am and a talk afterwards by the hear priest. I would certainly take the time to attend these if I was staying.

A wonderful Temple a little bit off the main road but with the main sights of Koyasan literally across the street. Because it is slightly smaller than other, similar accomodations, it had a very special charm in my opinion. We were welcomed warmly by Monk Kiyo who also gave us café recommendations. Very spacious room with tea and bisquits! The dinner and breakfast were fantastic and a very special experience I enjoyed a lot. This Temple really had the perfect balance of authenticity, hospitality and just the right comfort we needed.

Nice authentic experience. Yes it's expensive but you do it once in a lifetime like Venice gondola boat trip so totally woth the money. Consider this like living in museum.
Merry and helpful monks will meat you. Authentic sleaping on tatami under futon blankets. No private bath room, but visiting japanese public sento is easy and fun. Buddhist style supper and breakfast, so don't expect any meat or fish - this is a tofu world. But food is tasty and fancy served special for you in room with beautifully painted screens. If you are an early bird, you can visit Buddhists ceremony at 6:30am. Because you are staying in the temple - you can visit it. It's gorgeously beautiful.
Koyasan is full of temples and sacreed places. Memorial cemetery is place of serenity and old mysterious graves among the huge trees.
The fanciest place for smoking I've ever seen!
So place is recommended to visit and stay in.!

Experience culture authentically with a stay at this traditional Japanese-style accommodation. Sleep on the floor (on a futon roll) in a room furnished with tatami flooring and sliding doors. Guests can often expect access to a communal bath plus a complimentary Japanese garment called a yukata.

Amazing experience at all levels, the lodging was perfect, I was expecting something basic but it was rather similar to a ryokan, big rooms with confortable futons, traditional Japanese furnitures, yukata, complimentary tea in the room, good and very diversified meals, commun and private sento with a big bath tub. Highly spiritual moments on the fire ceremony and the morning prayer, moreover we had a free tour of more than an hour to learn a lot on oesoteric buddhism and the ancient history of the place.
The dinner and breakfast were wonderful, and very carefully prepared. The room was a beautiful traditional-style one, with tatami and futon. The staff were all extremely helpful and kind, and we were even able to purchase some charms. The public bath was very clean and well-kept, and it was interesting to experience it. Thank you for a lovely stay!
It a beautiful temple, it is very well kept. The room was very spacious and comfortable, all in tatami floor, tastefully decorated, very clean and well maintained, with aircon available and even a TV. I loved that there was a complimentary tea, a yukata and a toothbrush. The temple has a bath (onsen) available and a morning prayer ceremony.
Beautiful garden, lovely spacious rooms, tatami mats, comfortable futon bed but the usual authentic Japanese bean filled pillows take a lot of getting used to.
Absolutely exquisite vegetarian meals. Just delicious and like a work of art. Very attentive chef. An experience to get up early and attend the morning prayers.
Not far from the beautiful ancient cedar filled cemetery.
Wonderful experience
Dinner had so many vegan dishes and they were delicious. Breakfast was smaller but still filling. It won't be a western breakfast. The futon ended up being comfy and warm but the halls were cold in the morning. I suggest arriving at the start of check in to take full advantage of everything there is (enjoying the pond, onsen, tea in room while reading the info on ceremonies). Location was great for the big 3 sites, if you don't mind walk 20 minutes in either direction.
Unique experience of lodging in a beautiful buddhist temple. The place has a very special atmosphere. The (buddhist vegetarian) dinner and breakfast were rich and very tasty. The staff was super welcoming and friendly. Good onsen bath. Traditional Japanese-style room (tatami mats and futon beds) was really spatious and comfortable.
The temple, ryokan, grounds, and surrounding areas are magnificent. The staff were very accommodating, and the dinner and breakfast were exceptional. I still dream about their miso soup and pickled- and tempura vegetables. Our room was superb. We enjoyed staying in a traditional setting, wearing a yukata, and keeping warm under a kotatsu.
You are warmly welcomed by the monks who explain the program of your stay. Whilst dressed in your supplied yukata, you eat dinner and breakfast, creating a ryokan feel to your stay. The morning prayer was very uplifting and a wonderful experience to observe. The in-house onsen was an added bonus and very warming.
Staff are really nice and accommodating. Our room is really clean. A great place to experience Ryokan (A type of traditional Japanese inn that typically features tatami-matted rooms, communal baths, and other public areas)and Kaiseki (traditional multi-course Japanese dinner). You also get to experience the morning prayer. Location is also walking distance to some of the tourist spots and a 15-20min. walk from bus station. Excellent experience for us! Highly Recommended!
Very welcoming monks
Very close to the bus station and at a walking distance from the temples (careful, you must be back to the ryokan by 5pm)
Dinner and breakfast (vegetarian) are delicious and served directly in the room
The room was cosy and traditional, with comfortable futons, and yukatas are available
There is a large hot tub, similar to an onsen to be shared with the other guests, this is where you shower too (you must be comfortable with nudity)
We attended the morning ceremony, a unique moment
