I stayed as a mid-way point through Nakasendo.
I have nothing but praise for this hotel.
They picked me up at the station due to extremely heavy rain without me giving them prior notice which was appreciated. I would’ve frozen otherwise… 😂
The room is beautifully traditional but the highlight is definitely the outdoor spa sauna complex. Amazing!

Our room was in a building opposite the main hotel... the room was very new and had a great comfortable bed. The bathroom was also very good. The hot bath was OK with an indoor and an out door that was quite closed in.

The staff were very friendly and everything was absolutely spotlessly clean and ordered. Incredibly comfortable floor beds and the onsen was piping hot and in good repair.

Our big 10-tatami room also had an extra space with two armchairs — welcome after a few days sitting on the floor in other ryokans. Onsen large and a good temperature, not as hot as some others. Dinner and breakfast good and plentiful although not quite the quality of some others. The room also had a basin which was handy. A 15-minute walk to the start of the stunning Atera Valley. Great cheap lunch at the (not related) restaurant next door.

Nice location set in the midst of forest within 10min drive from town area.
Experience culture authentically with a stay at this traditional Japanese-style accommodation. Sleep on the floor (on a futon roll) in a room furnished with tatami flooring and sliding doors. Guests can often expect access to a communal bath plus a complimentary Japanese garment called a yukata.
All the staff was so kind and helpful.
The traditional japanese style bedroom was perfect.
I enjoyed the onsen everyday.
The breakfast was good and complete.
You have yukata, free drinks including soda, tea, coffee and cocoa and others stuff.
There is a laundry and a message chair.
You can purchase dinner everyday.
I would definitely go back.
great location, nice rooms, clean, loved the onsen, excellent breakfast.
We enjoyed our stay. Perfect for Kiso Valley travellers
rooms, onsen, breakfast.
Nice location in the nature.
large and generous Japanese breakfast with a special dish for children.
Loved the nice Yukata selection.
Very friendly and helpful staff in the hotel and restaurant. Room was nice- traditional tatami, with a painting of a Nakanorisan on the wall. The rooftop onsen was lovely. Everything was very clean. The food at the restaurant was amazing- Traditional Kaiseki. Excellent waitstaff.
The whole experience of staying at a ryokan for first time. Onsen so pampering after 2 days of flying/sitting on trains. Japanese dinners scrumptious and exquisitely presented. To return to our traditional Japanese room after such a dinner to find cosy futons laid out was simply heaven. Staff warm and caring. A perfect ryokan from which to explore magical old
Nakasendo trail towns.
The family who runs this guest house has thought of everything. Looking for an extension cord so phone can be next to your futon? It’s in the room. Want to heat something up? Microwave on the 4th floor. You can adjust the lighting in the room, there’s extra blankets and I could go on. Everything is clean and cozy, and the family is very friendly. I especially liked the outdoor onsen.
Well appointed Ryokan on the mountainside above the Kiso valley. Food was delicious and incredibly generous. Staff were very accommodating of dietary restrictions. Relaxing onsen with a charming garden setting. A wonderful experience.
Nice location, our room looked out over the river. 15 minute walk from the train station. Tatami mat room with futons on bed-frames. Honestly would have preferred futon directly on the tatami mats. Onsen was small but clean and nice. Wasn't crowded when we used it. We also had a delicious dinner here and the breakfast buffet was generous.
We stayed in traditional Japanese room with shared bathroom. We slept on futon on Tatami mats. Best sleep ever even for my older parents who were concerned with potential back issues without a bed. Hotel is deeper into the valley so you can hear sounds of the running river. It’s so serene. The onsen was perfect after long days on our feet. The dinner and breakfast were both incredible. The staff were so sweet. We appreciated the shuttle from the station to the hotel. Would love to stay again.
Amazing Japanese traditional dinner, lovely hot onsen, handy shuttle to and from the train, great rooms with a table and chairs and nice to experience the Japanese way of sleeping on the futons over the beautiful Tatami mats
