Experience culture authentically with a stay at these traditional Japanese-style accommodations. Sleep on the floor (on a futon roll) in a room furnished with tatami flooring and sliding doors. Guests can often expect access to a communal bath, plus a complimentary Japanese garment called a yukata.
The location is great because it's right next to the ski resort. All the buildings are connected, so you can easily walk from the plaza to the hotel in just 10 minutes. Plus, it's only a 10-minute walk to Shirakaba Onsen, so you won't have to wait for the shuttle bus. Overall, our stay was enjoyable!
Very good value for money. Great food and plenty of it. You could walk to the ski field but no need to- there is a hotel shuttle you can arrange daily to take you and pick you up at day’s end (reliable and punctual). You can use the guests onsen or a private one - there is one for two people and another that can accommodate four people. There family rooms (combination Japanese and Western style) were modern, spacious and comfortable.
Breakfast is excellent: Japanese and ample quantities. Small selection of western food available. Dinners are sensational; a rotation between Sukiyaki, Bbq and Shabu Shabu. All delicious in their own way. Accomodation is 3 star and comfortable enough. There are private and public onsens - the public ones are, perhaps, slightly small.
Location to Appi Kogen is perfect - a two minute drive at most, even in foul weather. The tariffs are very reasonable, in stark contrast to 1.3km up the hill, on snow.
Absolutely everything!! From the amazing large bedroom with comfortable bed and pillows, walk in robes to the excellent bathroom. The onsen had many choices with a sauna as well so best way to relax post a ski day. The ski concierge made things so easy from buying the tickets to keeping boots warm at night. Finally the afternoon tea with beautiful delights, aperitif time with more complimentary snacks and drinks to the fine dining restaurant which offered so many wonderful choices.
Clean and comfortable. The beds are comfortable, there are Western and Japanese rooms, the hot springs are comfortable, and best of all, the breakfast is delicious!
Beautiful foyer area, well maintained property, excellent staff and being able to use the private outdoor onsen was a huge plus. It was lovely to have a nice view from the Japanese style room as well.
