We had an amazing stay at the Funny Lion El Nido hotel. From the very first day, Val, on the front desk made us feel incredibly welcome. She greeted us by name every time, which added a personal and warm touch to our experience.
The pool was clean and well-maintained, offering a perfect spot to relax. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and spotless and everything we could have asked for.
Another highlight is the location being just a 5-minute walk to the main street, where all the restaurants are. It couldn’t be more convenient!
Overall, the excellent service, ideal location, and attention to detail made our visit truly memorable. Highly recommend this hotel and a big shoutout to Val for her exceptional hospitality. Val you make this hotel amazing.

Fantastic location and beautiful boutique resort, but much of its huge potential is quite badly managed.
The resort is located next to the Seven Commandos beach and only accessible with speed boat. Too bad that to our surprise this is free only once and then you have to pay for a 5 min ride each time. The cost for a night there is quite high they don’t include the boat nor airport transfer car. At the resort where everything is very pricey including any tour they offer which are 4/5 times normal rate. The food selection is quite limited and often things on the menu are not even available. Also, the breakfast is included but quite basic and if you order more than one thing they make you pay extra while delivery is slow.
It seems like the management there is not really from hospitality sector and have no clue about guest service: barely a greeting in a hotel with 8 rooms and evident lack of professionalism and care. In particular the male manager was totally unfriendly, not even said hi or a word asking about how is our stay which is minimum, both were just sitting at the bar doing their thing and closed in their own the world. A good hospitality is also about relationship.
On the contrary, the the staff was friendly and truly hard working but often lost and making mistakes with orders, timing and bad communication. No wonder as they don’t get a good example and are made work for 12 hours with 3 hours break; they do their best but look all tired and unhappy.
The room was very nicely decorated but there were several things missing, like soap and creams (and although we ask repeatedly for refill it didn’t happen), we had to chase also for clean towels, and other things were damaged or not working properly (fan on the balcony, holes in curtains, stereo etc). Again, this is hopefully for the management to read and take action, going to check the rooms regularly and fixing issues instead of sitting the whole day at the bar doing who knows what.

Although the AirSwift plane was 1 hour late arriving at 4:30 pm, the transfer was still taken care of by Ruel. It felt like a James Bond movie: from the plane into the van driving onto the jetty directly to the speed boat that took us to the island in only 20 min … just in time before night fall, which is when the coast guard wouldn’t allow any boat ride anymore.
The full board catering was fantastic, both in terms of Filipino and Western food. The waiters and cooks were fabulous living up to the wonderful Filipino philosophy of bayanihan … doing everything to make you happy, not because they’re staff, but because one genuinely feels that they are happy if the guest is happy. There was not one angry soul in this place!! As a lover of Filipino food, I didn’t need to request the food I like … they read it in my eyes (pinakbet, kamote cue etc). The following stood out in particular: Vergel, Ricky, Chai, Jess, Alfonso, Fhee, John, Vern.
As to the complimentary activities: We were overwhelmed with what was already included in the package. Two guides stood out: Reylan and Marlon bent over backwards for me to get the best snorkeling experience and gently took care of my Asawa, Edna, who - thanks to them - is no longer afraid of the water and the ocean.
In summary: job well done from the cleaners to the waiters/cooks to the tour guides to the receptionists (Kath & Kath and Jess) and lastly the wonderful manager Francis.

The hotel it's self was absolutely amazing with it's design and fusion of sleek line modern with the jungles / nature environment.
Position was great with the beach resort being 200mtrs away with loads of fabulous restaurants on the beach front.
But what made it even more amazing was the incredible staff, nothing was too much trouble for them, when I left I felt I was saying goodbye to friends, not hospitality staff.
I had a wonderful stay at the Last Frontier Beach Resort. The staff and service were excellent. Before arriving I had made a special request which exceeded my expectations. Overall I would whole heartedly recommend staying at the Last Frontier.
I recently stayed at this resort and absolutely loved it! The forest view from my room was breathtaking, and the super high ceiling added an incredible sense of space and luxury. I have never seen a hotel built like this before – it's truly one of a kind. The unique architecture and design make it a standout destination. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a serene and extraordinary getaway.
We spent 4 days at this great resort. Wonderful seafront location surrounded by nature and authentic experience (completely different from big all inclusive resorts). It is a perfect place to disconnect and spend relaxing holidays literally 5 meters from the sea. We appreciated a lot the level of service and advice offered by the family managing the resort. We also appreciated the activities offered, in particular the islands hopping tour. Perfect for couples and families. I definitely recommend this place!
We stayed here for 3 nights and loved it! This small family resort is located in the jungle, 15 minutes from the city centre. We loved the jungle sounds, here you really unwind. They offer a motorbike for free to get around. Great service by extremely friendly people.
Wonderful charming private villa/beach! Best comfortability of bed we’ve had in our Asia experience, kind and helpful service, especially the team leader of Nacpan Villas- Merla Jungco, who we thank very much for the support, professional reaction in rearranging our flight, kindness and personal care. Merla, you’ve made our stay a real *****5 star 💫! That part of Nacpan beach resort is the best location.
We stayed at 2 more expensive places in this area but Corong Beach Resort was easily the best of the lot. A lovely low key place to stay. A highlight of our Philippines journey.
Truly unique. The combination of comfort and luxury and the village next door is unique. The views are mesmerising and the whole idea of the place is nothing like anything else I have seen - cheek by jowl with a REAL village, yet you are in luxury. The people from the village work in the resort, so their is a social enterprise dimension to this place that you don't normally find.
Everything about the stay was amazing. The staff and family were so friendly, the location is phenomenal, and the rooms are amazing. We really appreciate how spectacular Duli Beach Resort is while still being a great value. They keep prices of beer, food, and activities very reasonable (less than El Nido). The food was also very good. We even managed to see a baby turtle release from the hatchery ran at the resort. The stay was definitely a highlight of our one month trip through southeast issue.
- amazing experience, nearly a whole island for 10-15 people
- high quality and creative food/ meals
- breathtaking shipwreck reef for snorkelling nearby
- very cool and thought through concept (wooden accommodations, native materials and interior, living the island life etc)
- staff was very kind and friendly
Keep in mind that this in not a luxury resort with super high standards - it’s a close to nature experience away from hustle and bustle. And if ur looking for that it’s perfect.
