The location cannot be beat, a tiny island, only 3 hectares total, surrounded by a beautiful reef. The food is plentiful and tasty and the staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are air conditioned and the fan keeps out any potential flying insects. The bathroom is modern although the water pressure is low (understandable being on a self contained island).
Beautiful birdlife and in particular marine life abounds, and we were lucky enough to find the resident turtle while snorkelling on the local reef.
Lots of optional activities to choose from. We went on the snorkelling safari and that was amazing, and highly recommended for inexperienced snorkellers to learn how and where to snorkel on a reef.

Wonderful staff, couldn't be more helpful. Our transfer to the island had a bit of a hiccup and we were offered a free upgrade.
Very good value for money. Including the free transfers, included boat trips for snorkelling, included meals at the speciality restaurants as I am not a fan of buffet.
Great dive team. Felt very safe with them and great dive site with corals and fish.
Home reef was great too - saw sharks, turtles, rays as well as beautiful fish and coral.

Our 3rd visit in 3 years and just as a wonderful and perfect. Had the pleasure to visit several resorts and if want small, quiet and serene even in high season (but utterly special in lower density mid seasons), 30 min transfer from Male on sea plane and 5 min boat, limited kid noise given no kids club, amazing house reefs for snorkelling, first class eurodiver operation with 6/7 of the best dive sites in the Maldives within 45mins on a great boat with a truly great team, world class food and spa, a personal expression by the local Maldivian owner with genuinely first class personal management and service teams, there is no need to spend €1k plus per day at the busy and hyped brand resorts when this individual and perfect offering exists.
We extended 6 days after 2 weeks to enjoy a little more…family feel and way they treat their staff means the service you receive is just sublime.
Over water villas are just lovely and beach are quieter, do both if you can.

Beautiful little beach. Not a big resort so nothing crowded, beach, dining area etc. The best bit .... the staff. From different parts of the world they were all friendly, efficient & helpful all the time.

Great resort for a family getaway. The staff were really friendly and service oriented. Good house Reef for snorkeling and diving and an Excellent dive centre. We enjoyed our dives. Less than 50 minutes by speed boat from Male. Rooms were comfortable - good beds.
Absolutely brilliant location. Diving and snorkeling is some of the best I have seen in the Maldives. The food was exceptional, worthy of awards. The staff was overwhelmingly friendly and helpful. Anwar our server was exceptional. Marco the dive instructor was brilliant. This was a vacation to remember. We will definitely come back. The resort would deserve 6 stars if that were possible. There is no pool or gym, but honestly with the house reef so vibrant and the water so warm, who needs those things.
It was an exceptional experience at Makunudu Resort, from the staff, to the hospitality, stay, food and the views. Couldn’t have asked for anything more! Special thanks to Anandu at the front desk, Bhaskar at the restaurant and Sushil at the bar. Would definitely visit again.
Dinners were very good. Impressed with the variety food and quality of service. For such a small island and not being a "fancy" Maldives resort, the dinners were a bright spot. The bar area is also quite comfortable. Drinks in the bar are a bit expensive, but the atmosphere is comfortable and the bartenders are are very nice once you get to know them. Beach near the dock area has soft sand is good for swimming.
